The credulous boy

“What is this” the little boy shouted to the mysterious figure set upon the wall “Why does it torment me so?” The figure retorted “Dear young boy, young boy indeed, that you are. Young you can be, now and forever without torment, and without pain. You have much to gain”. The boy then anxiously asked “How figure set upon the chair, how can one be young now and forever?” “Silly boy” replied the figure “The answer to that is quite simple, oh so simple indeed little boy”. The boy shouted anxiously “Tell me figure set upon the floor, tell me now, tell me the answer to this gleeful riddle” The statue then rejoined “Why little boy, the answer to the riddle is that there is no riddle, for all one needs to do is turn around and peer into that little hole upon the face of the floor”.
Turned around the boy did without thought or care, he peered into that little whole. With knit eyebrows he turned to the figure set upon the edge of the hole.
“Figure set upon the edge of this hole, why must you confuse me so” said the young boy. To that the figure confidently retorted “Confused you are you say young boy, perhaps your eyes cannot see so far, perhaps if you had leaped down, the answer you would have found”
