The day was bright and sunny, as it almost always was in Death City. The sky was a vivid blue, with the occasional fluffy white cloud floating like a leaf on a pool of water. The sun chuckled endlessly, its wide beaming mouth stretched open with apparent mirth, showing off large slab-like teeth, if one was willing to squint into the light. It never did to look at the sun too long though, some people said that sort of behaviour would turn a person blind. In any case it was one of those extremely hot days where even so much as thinking of physical activities could bring out a sheen of sweat on most brows. It was the kind of day where paper, pencil, and book were abandoned by fidgety students who wanted nothing more than to enjoy the beautiful day. Unfortunately it was also a school day, which limited the amount of fun that could be had, unless of course you were in Alexander's class. Alexander himself hadn't shown up yet as class wasn't due to start for another ten minutes, but as no one would ever dare to be late to Alexander's class most of the students had already arrived and were standing, some curious, some knowingly, and some anxiously, in front of what looked like a relatively standard obstacle course. Surely when Alexander arrived he would announce that there were deadly snakes under the tightrope bridge, or perhaps a bomb that would need to be defused at the top of the large climbing frame, but for now, while the danger was relatively low and Alexander was out of sight, the warm chatter of energetic students filled the air.

Ruben stood awkwardly near the obstacle course. His gaze was unfocused like he was trying to remember that word … you know... that word … on the edge of my tongue … you know … that one. He was older than some of his classmates, and had started to grow out of the awkward stage of early teenagehood and was starting to inch towards the reliable appearance of adulthood where pimples and acne were memories alone He had a certain scruffiness about him, with dusty pants and a shirt which had been patched & darned a number of times. Perhaps the most strange thing though were his arms. They stretched down to his knees, and each finger was three times wider than a normal person's. It was also clay-coloured, and apparently made out of tiny bricks. It was only at his shoulders that he seemed to return to normal proportions and made of flesh & blood Ruben was one of the students early to class. He had learned from experience that Mr Alexander considered 'early,' on time, and 'on time,' late. If you were genuinely late to the class Mr Alexander tended to show his appreciation by throwing you out the window. The teacher was well known for his violent, yet effective teaching methods, and Ruben just wanted the teaching and none of the violence. So he was trying to do some warm ups near the obstacle course, but he never really knew what to do. Whenever he had seen people doing it, it involved things like jumping – so Ruben tried to hop on one leg for a minute or two- or things like randomly bending over, so he tried that as well. Touching his touch proved to be no problem with his extra-long arms, so he did that and then looked about with a rather lost puppy look, before scratching his head. ”Maybe … maybe err we are meant to show initiative & do something? … We could make some helmets – Ooh, or a golem!” A look of excitement passed over his face, and he began to speak faster. It was obvious words were travelling straight to his mouth without going via his brain. ”I bet Mr Alexander would be happy to see a golem obstacle course, and then it could totally be like 'rooooaaaaar' and shake people off and then stomp them, and that would be bad but you would learn not to be stomped on, which is always a good lesson to learn.” |

Sitting away from the others, was Ajurh, glad that his first day had been relatively uneventful. It doesn't look like this day will go without its excitement, I can practically taste everyone anticipation. Soon Ajurh grew uneasy, so he stood up and went to inspect the obstacle course. The course looks normal. Not even worth taking my tie off. Eventually he noticed that some people were watching him. It's to be expected, I'm new and this class looks to test agility and endurance. People will want to see what I'm capable of. But the question is, show off or try to slip under the radar? As time drew on the anticipation grew. the other students seem to be dreading the teacher's arrival. Mr. Alexander..... I wonder what kind of teacher the man is. "Hmm. When is this class due to start?" |

The Demon Chair

It had been a year since Rick last saw Alexander. Over a year since that fateful Capture the Flag game they had ended up playing, which ended with the start of the activation of that damned tower. And while not much seemed to have changed, Rick was barely recognizable from the boy they once knew. The gas mask he once wore was completely gone. As a result, he had an inhaler for his newly gained asthma pocketed. His once pale skin took on a tan, with a long scar running down the right side of his face, and his mousy brown hair turned to a shade of blue. As Rick stepped into the obstacle course, he saw Ruben, a golem engineer he had met last year. However, the yellow-eyed teenager decided not to interrupt his warm-up session just yet. Instead, he pulled his blue hair back before putting his baseball cap on backwards, keeping the hair out of his eyes. Otherwise, he was wearing what he'd normally wear during his missions: his hoodie, jeans, boots, and fingerless gloves. Even those were modified, as the plates of metal were gone. The Demon Chair then quietly did some warm up exercises of his own, push ups and sit ups mostly. He would continue this until either someone engaged him in conversation, or whenever it was that Alexander would arrive to give the class their instructions. Hell, he didn't know if Alexander would recognize the Demon Chair, due to his changed appearance and medical condition. |

Blue was not having a good day, and that was before being slammed face-first into the ground. He had woken up to find that a certain someone that was also living in the Share House had once again eaten most of Blue's cereal. That tended to happen a lot, but it still irked him. 'I should ask him to stop eating my breakfast.' The bastard sword mused as he walked towards Ninth Period (were there even nine periods?). It was the class that many students dreaded; Alexander's class. Blue, however, wasn't afraid of Alexander at all. He seemed nice enough- to Blue, anyways. He was doing his best to keep them alive during the missions they were undertaking. But then again, maybe Blue wasn't afraid because he was too dumb to realize the apparent scariness of a short but super strong Russian that could slap you with a stick. That was probably it. When suddenly, bam! Blue tripped over nothing and slammed his face into the ground. He lied there for a few seconds, shocked. Then someone stepped on him. "Ow." He rolled over and got back up, dusting off his mini-trenchcoat thing. He looked around for the person who walked on top of him, but said person was lost in the crowd- okay maybe it wasn't a crowd. Maybe...five or so people? Blue shook himself in rather dog-like (now that I think about it both of my male OC's are dog-like...I should fix that) fashion, and kept on walking. He pulled his head out of the clouds and actually paid attention to where he was going and what he was doing, to make sure he didn't fall again or get lost. He managed to arrive to the room he had to arrive to; unfortunately it wasn't the Redundant Apartment of Redundancy, but instead, was Alexander's Classroom. Blue peered inside, and found it empty. It was then he remembered that class was usually outside at that one field. And do, he went. Surveying the great outside of Alexander's obstacle course, Blue found a few familiar faces from before. But so far, the only one that actually stuck out in the crowd was Ruben, of course. He was, as Blue saw him, the kind-hearted bully that had beaten him up in a fight- well, not exactly fight. More like sparring session. And as for the new people, he saw a nonchalant and mysterious person with almost-black hair and...he was too far away to make out his eyes. And then there was some other teen, with blue hair like Blue's, but not as cool nor nearly as...Blue cocked his head in confusion. He wasn't that obnoxious. Blue waved off the narrator's rant about Rick's hair and walked over to one of the people he had never seen before (Ajurh). "Hmm. When is this class due to start?" The new person asked, just as Blue managed to close the gap between them. "Well," Blue began, glimpsing at his wrist, searching for a watch, "the class will start soon." He answered, after realizing that the his watch was not functioning, or rather, the fact that he did not even have a watch. Typical of Blue to forget about such things. "Anyways, I'm Blue. What's your name?" --- Meanwhile, Ryou was busy in the mens' bathroom (gasp! Breaking the school rules!) setting up the classic, but never-failing Squishies; ketchup packs underneath toilet seats. But the thrill of it was slowly decreasing. Why, you ask? Ryou sighed. 'People are getting used to this; I haven't seen very many victims.' Could it be that the boys have gotten smart enough to check underneath the toilet seat to do their business!? Ryou chuckled; what a silly idea. Boys weren't that smart! Except maybe some were. Ryou exited the bathroom, undetected like a good prankster should be, and slipped through the hallway to her favorite class. 'Alexander's classes are always fun.' While Ryou didn't detest book-work (it's what kept her smart afterall!), nothing was better then running around and cheating death. Except maybe beating people at competitions. Or successful pranks. Or other such things. She left the indoors and blinked warily, her eyes adjusting to the light. She adjusted her ear-muffs so she could hear a bit more and waved at the people she knew; namely Ruben (although she hadn't talked with him much) and Blue, and grinned at anyone else who returned the wave. Ryou continued idly running her eyes through the area, searching for that one person. Her hand instinctively went to her lips when she thought about him. She caught herself and shook her head. No! Not the time for it! Maybe after school. but she continued thinking about him, hoping he'd show up. She needed him. Both ways. Uh. One way. The brunette grinned; she loved confusing the narrator. But she needed him because he was her 'Oh, Den, Den, for where art thou, Den, my Weapon?' Ryou finally said his name in her mind, paraphrasing Shakespeare's famous line to make sense. "Anyways, I'm blue. What's your name?" Ajurh had sensed the young man's presence just before he spoke. I'm slipping. Turning to face the Stranger, he noticed that his eyes and hair were almost the same shade of blue, and that he wore light blue shirt nearly covered by a long dark blue over coat. Well he has a nice theme going. Ajurh smiled at the thought, then that smile quickly faded as he realized that that he himself had a black theme. I needn't be so quick to judge, least I be Judged in the same way. Then He realized that the young man was waiting for a reply. "Er sorry I got lost in my thoughts. My name is Ajurh, Ajurh Naut. Its a pleasure to make your acquaintance Blue." Edited by Ajurh, May 22 2012, 06:11 AM.

The sun shone high in the sky as the students congregated on the grass. Some of the stupider, or routine bound, or perhaps more optimistic students were setting out their papers and pencils on the bleachers, but for most it was obvious that the class would involve themselves, the obstacle course, and the great outdoors. Alexander was not the kind of teacher to take his classes in-doors. He was not a gym teacher, but he appreciated keeping a practical aspect to his lessons, in an attempt to better ready his precious pupils for going out on missions to collect corrupted souls. That and he'd been banned from teaching in any of the nice lecture theatres due to the fact that his classes often involved improvised and non-improvised weapons, lots of collateral damage, and the occasional defenestration of a student. Yes his tendency to throw things out of windows without first bothering to open said windows had not won him any friends amongst the janitorial staff. Another rumour being whispered amongst the gathered hoards was that after the last Mega-Test, Alexander had broken into the houses of students who got their answers wrong, and assaulted them... and then stole their cats. This was, of course, largely unverified. A few of the newer students were being fed horror stories about Alexander's classes - the record for largest number of students sent to sick-bay with broken bones, the defusing of live bombs with nothing but your toes, and of course the stink. Although not always immediately apparent, Alexander's armpits were said to be the dying place of noses that had committed sins against humanity, and there were stories of students that had been knocked out by the pungent aroma. One particularly fanciful tale involved Sid being brought back as a zombie by the armpits, but this was also unverified speculation of the most absurd kind, and would probably find its way into the underground student newsletter sooner rather than later. Altogether there was an unmistakable air of excitement and tension building as more and more students arrived, ready to take part in the lesson.

Sockface's stubby little legs did not carry him very fast, but he was pleased to have the opportunity to dawdle a little. The sun was high and bright, and Sock's stuffing felt as though it was vibrating with energy and life as he warmed up. If he'd had a voice box he would have hummed an upbeat tune, but as it was not possible he tapped out a rhythm on his thigh. It was an insistent beat that had stuck in his head since the last night out he'd had with Vittoria, a gloriously independent woman who embodied the term springy. Naturally she was on his mind, although she wouldn't be out of bed until a more natural hour - sometime in the late afternoon. Luckily for his study and budding social life, Sock required no sleep, and so was leading something of a double life. Thinking about certain springy things, Sock was unpleasantly surprised as he was kicked in the back by someone not carefully watching where they were going. The blue haired boy went down, and in a fit of pique, Sockface hurriedly walked over the top of said boy. It was childish and petty, and made Sockface feel better about the whole incident. Alas, he was disappointed as the boy picked himself up, brushed himself off, and looked around for his persecutor, only to gaze right over the top of Sock, who it must be said had quite a short stature, before shrugging it off and wandering away. With a sigh Sock too let the incident go. It was clear that the blue boy had other issues, and in any case he was soon latched on to someone who looked particularly new - mostly due to the fact that they had blithely wandered quite close to the obstacle course that had been set up for the class and were inspecting it - an action very much akin to blindly jabbing at the first blank tile in a game of minesweeper. That is to say it was probably going to be okay, but would very occasionally be the last thing you ever do. Some other students had decided to warm up nearby, and Sock wandered over at a leisurely pace to see what they thought they could achieve by a quick session of callisthenics before Alexander arrived. In the case of the one doing the push ups, he was probably hoping to achieve friends of the opposite gender, but hadn't yet worked out that sweat was generally more of a deterrent than an attraction. Perhaps they would understand after witnessing Alexander's odour first hand. Sock sidled up to the boy with the strange elongated arms and nodded, as one veteran student to another, before turning his gaze on his class-mates. |

Upon further inspection to the obstacle course, Ajurh started to notice, inconsistencies. Like the fact that the first obstacle, a 10 foot long tight rope, seemed to reflect light. The rope has been greased, the only feasible way across is to build speed and slide across the rope. Not a problem but if there is one trap there is sure to be another. After a few minutes, he found other nasty surprises. Like how the first four wooden panels after the tight rope weren't level with those around them. They're fake. If i were to hit those too fast, they would break resulting in a quick trip into a pitfall trap. this was going to be tougher then Ajurh first imagined. "I'm so glad I gave this course more than just a once over." Ajurh mumbled, taking off his tie. Edited by Ajurh, May 22 2012, 10:21 PM.

Nivek walked into Alexander's class with a look of confidence. His back was straight, his chest puffed out slightly, a smirk on his face as if to say "I got this in the bag." Nivek had not been to school in almost a year, he had been locked away in his apartment practically going insane. He tried not to think about it, that's exactly what the Beast wanted him to do. Instead he kept track. Nivek had on one of his baseball caps, this one had been red and black, it was on snug over his silver grey hair. His shirt was a black and red baseball jersey with a white, tight fitting, shirt underneath who's sleeves were just longer than the jerseys. To tie up his outcry he wore a pair of black gym shorts with a red lining, and his trusty cleats. Draped over his shoulder was an Orange towel and in his other hand was a large water bottle. "oh come on Angel boy don't look so happy to be here, it looks sickening! Like some goodie goodie " he could hear the sound of the Beast virtually spitting inside his head. Even with this Nivek only had his eye twitch slightly as he tossed his fowl down and adjusted his hat. "Who doesn't like a good obstacle course?" Nivek laughed at himself, though all these emotions were for desplay purposes only. None of them were real. Nivek looked around the area there were several people there. He didn't really recognize anyone, though that shouldn't have surprised him seeing as he never really talked to anyone. Some where talking others were stretching. That was a good idea Nivek should get some warm ups out of the way. He started by stretching his calfs so they didn't get too tight while running. He stretched his sides and arms with some bending so he didn't get any cramps. It was like when he used to play sports back in the old days. he finished up stretching then popped his neck both ways with a jerk of his head, and popped all his fingers. He was ready for this, he knew he was a a bit stronger and faster than a normal person, due to his... Condition, and his years of sports prepared him for such events. "Well then let's get this party started." |
