((OOC: Sorry for taking so long to post. I had a case of writers block and busy-itis))

Sylo looked up at the edge they had jumped from, listening to an odd wailing noise. It took him a moment to realize that Lance was singing. He nodded at Bo's advice without looking at him. Duly noted..." He said, looking at Bo. At the mention of attending class, Sylo had to resist the urge to roll his eyes. Classes were work and he didn't like work, therefore he didn't like classes. Although, the way he spoke about classes taught by this "Alexander" made then interest him. He made a mental note to check in about that later on.

Sy returned the nod, and considered following Bo. He still needed to case the school for good hiding spots and things of the like. Once Bo was off the edge and walking away, Sy followed. He stepped out over the edge of the ledge and twisted around backwards, letting his other foot slip as he did. He fell straight down but caught himself on the ledge. Letting go, he fell to the lower ledge, absorbed his fall into a crouch and used crouch to do a back flip off the ledge to the ground a short distance below, landing with a soft thump.

Shoving his hands in his pockets, he turned and followed Bo a few paces behind. He figured the best way to get to know the place was to follow someone who already knew it, rather than blundering around blinding, trying to find places he didn't know existed.

Had Bo been aware he was being followed, the two star meister may have gone somewhere more interesting than the library. He may have raced over the rooftops, or visited one of the many interesting attractions Shibusen had to offer. As it was, however, the teen was looking forward to seeing his partner, and was extending his awareness of the outside world only enough to make sure he didn't bump into Lance or Alexander.

Bo hummed quietly to himself as he walked briskly towards the library. Nothing beat back sleepiness like a quick pace. Along the way the dark skinned meister picked up trash, and put it in the bin as he saw it, skilfully kicking the rubbish up and catching it, or leaping into a roll to pick up rubbish without breaking his pace. It was just as fun as it ever was, and left him feeling satisfied.

With a large grin plastered to his face, Bo entered the library. Before Bo had met Erasmus he had liked the library for the comfort and quiet it provided (a great place to catch a bit of shut eye). After Bo met Erasmus, the library had become more than an overlarge bedroom; it had become a place of potential learning, and somewhere he could hang out with his partner.

"Hello Bo"

came a soft voice. Bo turned his grin in the direction of Gilbert, one of the full time librarians. The quiet man, and ex-meister was clothed in tweed from the tips of his shoes, to the top of his very stylish jacket. At first Bo had been taken aback, but those days had long passed, and now the dark skinned meister wouldn't bat an eyelid at the odd choice of apparel. Bo waved, changing course to join Gilbert, who was busily shelving books.

"If you are looking for Erasmus, he said he would meet you in the training room. I expect you don't need a key?"

Bo confirmed that he could get into the small, secret back room without a key. The training room was something that no one would ever expect of a library, and something that Gilbert himself had set up. It was full of training equipment, and quite apart from being a brilliant private gym, it was a great place for trying out new techniques without anyone watching on, or getting in the way.

Sylo followed Bo as quietly as he could, although it seemed that he could make all the sound he wanted since Bo was so interested in picking up trash. Sylo seemed to take a similar approach to things as Bo did. Simply walking would be boring, as would just picking up trash. So like Bo, Sylo decided to make it more interesting. Looking up at the ceiling, Sylo saw several criss-crossing rafters. "This will do nicely He thought to himself. With all the nimbleness of a cat, Sylo ran up one wall, vaulted to the next, and then shoved off and grabbed a rafter. He hadn't realized how far they had been at first and he almost misjudged, but managed to catch it with one hand. With minimal struggling he pulled himself onto the rafter and proceeded to follow Bo.

He had to hop along the rafters to keep up with Bo and as he went he noted the amount of dust that had collected on the upper side of the rafters. "Bo would have a fit if he saw this..." Sylo thought to himself. He also noticed how much room there was above the rafters. It was like there was no ceiling. He started to image what could be in the empty space above his head, and got so into it he almost didn't see Bo stop. Sylo had to stop himself by sticking one foot out in front of him while keeping the other behind, straddling the open air. He watched Bo go into a door and once he was threw, Sylo dropped, rolling once he hit the ground to absorb the fall.

He peaked in threw the door and saw a multi-leveled library with more books than he cared to imagine. He saw bo talking to a man at a desk. He noted the man's odd choice in clothing, but kept quiet at the door. He couldn't make out what they were saying, but he saw Bo walk away toward the back. He waited until the man at the desk had turned his back and then dashed after Bo, his feet making no sound on the floor as he ran. He rounded a corner and saw that Bo was going into a secret room of sorts. Ducking behind a book shelf, he waited for Bo to go inside before ducking in behind him before the door closed, remaining in the shadows as best he could to avoid detection.

((OOC: Sorry for the wait. I've been caught up with other things. ^_^; Real life can be a pain at time. I hope you don't mind if I assumed Bo was already in the training room and the Sylo could get in by following Bo? If that's a problem I can change it if you like.))

Bo wandered up to the door, which was locked as it always was. He figured he would have to use his usual method of entry, but it seemed his partner Erasmus had been waiting for a while and was impatient to start training, as he flung the door open as soon as Bo approached, grabbing his meister by the shoulder and dragging him in forcefully.

“Come on Bo! I wanna try that new weapoooo—who’s that?”

Bo turned to see that Sylo had slunk into the room after him – the extremely well lit, small, private gym in which there were no secret corners or pockets of shadow for concealed ingress to the room. The teen frowned – he could almost hear his teacher, Mister Alexander booming in his head, ‘muzt never let guard down, yez? Muzt alvays be vary!’ Erasmus’ intelligent brown eyes took in the intruder, quickly forming opinions without ever having spoken to the boy himself. Erasmus was a 26 year old part time librarian, who was ridiculously tall – at least half a head taller than Bo. He dressed in a worn blue jumpsuit with a belt to give his body some shape to it. His dark brown hair was neatly brushed (as always) and his tanned complexion was slightly lighter than usual, due to the large amount of time he had been spending indoors over the past few months.

“Uh this is Sylo. He must have followed me. He’s pretty new to Shibusen. Sylo, this is my partner Erasmus, Demon uh…”

Bo broke off. He was used to introducing Erasmus as a demon fire lance, but more recently they had discovered that Erasmus’ ‘true’ weapon form was that of a bomber plane.

“Demon Bomber Plane”

Finished Erasmus, grinning proudly. He was (at times) obnoxiously pleased with his new weapon form, although he hadn’t yet gained full control of it. Bo cringed, hoping Sylo wouldn’t ask for a demonstration of that particular weapon form, as it was rather large and would take up most of the room in the small gym.

I also apologize about the lateness of my reply - got a lot on my plate right now. I might also mention you can be in more than one thread at once, because I notice you haven't been doing anything else and I would hate to hold you up too much!

I understand completely. And I know...I just don't know who to ask or how. *Is social awkward* lol

Sylo mentally kicked himself upon seeing that the room offered him no shelter of shadows. He turned to leave but was spotted before he could take two steps. He turned back around and looked at the pair, allowing Bo to introduce him. "Nice to meet you Erasmus" He said without moving, almost sounding mono-tone. He was curious as to what a "Demon Bomber Plane" was, but thought it was better to not ask, since it sounded big and explosive. "Well don't let me stop you, you two go ahead and do what ever it was you were going to do. I'll just be over here. He said, sitting down against a wall and crossing his legs. It suddenly dawned on him that Erasmus was taller than Bo, and Bo was taller than him, making Sylo the shortest person in the room. The thought irritated him for a moment before he shoved it away. He was more interested in watching the two in front of him than he was worrying about who was taller than who.

Bo’s brow wrinkled with confusion. Sylo was going to… watch? The teen glanced at his partner who gave a small shrug. It would be terribly boring, but it wasn’t like they were going to kick Sylo out or anything. The private gym was where they usually tried out new ideas for attacks, or different uses for Erasmus that they had never tried before. This was because the process of figuring out new moves usually involved a lot of stuffing up. Face plants, burns, and cluster-fucks that would rather embarrassing if anyone other than Bo and Erasmus saw them where what the two worried about the most. In the private gym they had the secrecy they needed to perfect techniques so that when other people saw them fighting they could look like they knew what they were doing.

“Anyway Bo – I was thinking er we could try a sideways soul resonance today.”

Bo groaned. Every time they tried this he ended up getting injured, and was of the opinion it wasn’t going to work –ever. Erasmus sensed his meister’s reluctance, and with a coy smile he added,

“We can go out flying if we get it right~”

Grudgingly Bo agreed to try a few times. Without waiting for the teen to change his mind, Erasmus shimmered, glowed, and transformed into a three foot staff capped with a dragon head. It wrapped itself around Bo’s left arm, and the teen shuffled to one end of the gym without enthusiasm. Closing his eyes for a second, Bo tried to muster up some passion for the task. He knew that if he didn’t put his all into it, then soul resonance would never work properly. With a fierce frown he re-opened his eyes, and with a team shout of ‘SOUL RESONANCE; JUDGEMENT PYRE!’ Erasmus began to glow again. Bo hadn’t quite given it as much as he could, and instead of an almost instant transformation, Erasmus slowly grew into something of roughly the size and shape of a telephone pole. About halfway through he became too heavy for Bo to hold out parallel with the ground and the teen accidentally allowed the far end to hit the floor. Instead of growing outwards, Erasmus, who hadn’t realised, began to push Bo backwards as he grew, pushing his meister back into a wall. The slight teen wheezed as he attempted to get his breath back, and felt his ribs to make sure none were broken. After that failed attempt, Bo put in a little more gusto and they tried again. This time Erasmus shot forward, growing at the usual speed for judgement pyre. The dragon head opened its mouth, and slammed into the far wall, creating a number of cracks in the wall with its regular triangular teeth. Bo grunted as he struggled to hold Erasmus in place while the Demon Weapon let forth a thick stream of azure fire. After a moment the fire broke out of the floor in a gyser of flame, dangerously close to Sylo. Bo dropped his partner.

“Ah! Sorry Sylo! Don’t worry though, the soul resonance flames are completely harmless… unless you have a corrupted soul.” Bo turned back to Erasmus, “why is it still coming out of the floor when you are facing the wall?”

The two turned inward and began discussing the peculiar nature of the soul resonance. In the end they tried several more times with varying degrees of success, but ultimately Erasmus was forced to finally concede that a sideways resonance was unlikely to happen. By that time, Bo was covered in a thin sheen of sweat from the exertion of so many soul resonances, and Erasmus’ voice had gone hoarse – something that happened when he used his flames too much. The dark skinned meister shucked off his shirt, and rolled his shoulders a little. Although he was a little drained from the soul resonances, he felt the need to stretch out and do something physical before going flying with Erasmus. Usually this would mean running across rooftops, but as he was inside, in a gym, and Sylo was probably bored out of his mind, a little rough and tumble seemed the best approach to working out the tension.

“It’s all well and good for Erasmus to train, but what about us meisters, Sylo? You up for a sparring match?”

Sylo watched with a surprising amount of interest as the two went about their training. The only weapons he had ever seen were his parents: a diamond long sword and a .44 magnum that shot lightning. When the two started their Soul Resonance, Sylo thought that it was going well, until Bo got pushed up against the wall. He didn't think it was suppose to go like that, but then again, he had never seen this before. When they tried again and Erasmus slammed into the wall and shot blue fire, Sylo thought that was the coolest thing he had seen all day. He was more interested in watching them than he was his surroundings, so it wasn't until too late that he saw the jet of fire shoot up from the ground. By sheer reflex, Sylo rolled to one side to avoid the flame. Although he would have been too slow if the fire could burn him, as his foot had gotten hit by the flame. Sylo didn't say anything about it since it was obviously an accident. He stood and brushed himself off and went to go back to where he had been sitting, but stopped when Bo mentioned a spar.

Sure, I don't see why not." He said, taking off his jacket and letting it fall to the ground with a loud thunk. One wouldn't expect that kind of noise from a jacket, but Sylo's was weighted by all the knives he carried and if one were to pick it up, they would find that it was much heavier than a normal jacket. Fishing around in one of his cargo pockets, he withdrew a small, wooden knife that had been polished and sanded smooth to avoid splinters and dulled so it couldn't cut paper even if it wanted to. He spun it so the blade was facing backwards and walked to the practice area, opposite Bo. "Any particular rules before we begin?" He asked, taking a stance: his left leg in front, with his right leg behind and holding most of his weight. His left hand in front ready to block while his right hand held the knife ready to slash.

Rules? Um. No killing… or crippling. Oh! And no using tentacles to electrocute me and break my leg. I mean I don’t think you have any but don’t uh… don’t do that. This is more to practice technique than anything, so I might want to stop occasionally and re-try something to make sure I am getting it right.”

Bo nodded. He was glad he’d remembered that second part, because some people at Shibusen seemed to take sparring very seriously, and the last fight he’d had, he’d been forced to drag himself several kilometres to get home on a broken leg, with rubber gloves that were fused to his badly burned hands.

Bo’s stance was casual. It was neither here nor there, not aggressive nor defensive. He had learned a lot over the weeks that Lance had been viciously attacking training him, and since becoming a two star meister had become significantly more impressive in battle. He did not opt to use Erasmus, as his weapon partner was only useful in serious situations, being a little more of a hindrance in practice matches. Erasmus knew this and was happy to sit out of the match and watch from the sidelines to make sure matters didn’t get out of hand. He had been horrified when Bo had come back to the apartment with a broken leg, and was anxiously ready to step in if either of the meisters got a little too … enthusiastic.

Without letting Sy from his sight, Bo took in his surroundings, making mental notes on the equipment available in the gym. It was his ideal fighting environment, with lengths of coiled rope, hobby-horses, soft mats, and various practice weapons hanging on the walls. It even had a mop in a bucket in the far corner, because technically the room was supposed to be a cleaning cupboard. Bo’s style of fighting was more defensive than aggressive, and worked on countering when attacked, rather than initiating the fight. In this case, however, Sy seemed a little unsure of his boundaries – of what was allowed and not allowed. In this case Bo thought it would be best to start the fight himself.

“Okay I’m gonna start now”

He warned. As he was unsure of Sy’s level of competence, Bo moved in at roughly 3 quarters of his usual speed, not seeking full contact with his blows, testing to see if Sy could block. The dark skinned meister was ever wary of Sy’s practice knife, knowing that it would be easy to fall prey to it if he got too close. Bo was using a technique closer to boxing than usual, ducking weaving and throwing a few punches that were swiftly retracted when they were met with a block or a counterattack.

Sylo had assumed those rules to begin with, sine this was just a spar and not an actual fight. The last condition seemed a little strange to Sy, and he figured Bo wouldn't have said anything unless something similar had happened, which only raised more questions. But it was neither the time nor the place to be worrying about that, as the spar had begun.

As Bo began, Sy noted that he seemed to be boxing. Quick punches that he would pull back when they didn't connect coupled with ducking and dodging. For the first few seconds, Sy played along with this, throwing a few punches at about half speed while ducking and dodging Bo's. He held his knife in a position so that the chances of it hitting Bo were minimal, as he wasn't trying to use it just yet. Suddenly, he changed tact.

Sy aimed a low sweeping kick at Bo's legs to try and knock him off balance. It wasn't exactly fast, but that wasn't the main attack. If Bo dodged his kick, Sy planned to follow threw with a jab from his practice knife, aimed at Bo's stomach.

Seeing Sy ducking down, Bo flipped back, briefly touching the ground with his hands before vaulting back to his feet, landing some distance away from his opponent. Directly behind Bo was a rope, and (making the assumption that Sy was ready to get more serious) Bo thought he would try working with the rope as a weapon. Rope was always tricky, and difficult to use, requiring skilful execution of technique if one was to avoid becoming entangled in their own weapon. Unfortunately Bo hadn’t quite got the hang of it, but of course now was a good time to practice.

The teen promptly stuck his foot in the heavy coils and flicked the rope up into his hands. He quickly jammed most of the coils around his left arm, giving him a thick armour along the forearm that would protect him from the slash of a (hypothetical) knife, but probably not a direct stab. With his other hand he grabbed the loose end of the rope and gave it a flick in Sy’s direction, getting himself some loose rope, and (ideally) distracting his foe at the same time. With a few loops of free rope dangling from his left arm to the loose end he still held firmly in his right hand, Bo was armed… or roped… or whatever the term was – he was it.

With a small hop skip and a jump he was back in melee range, using his forward momentum to flick the rope, Bo attempted to throw a loop over Sy’s head. It was not directly threatening, but a part of an overall scheme of ‘tie the enemy into knots’. His overall strategy would be to let Sy do the attacking, and in avoiding getting hit, to continue looping the rope around his opponent until Sy was thoroughly immobilised. Bo only hoped he could achieve this without also knotting himself up.
