Character Name: Danielle Chambers (Dan, Dani)

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Type: Weapon – Can Opener

Partnered? Not yet.

Image: N/A

Clothing and description: Danielle is built like a beanpole. With a height of five feet, seven inches and a lanky frame with little chest, thin hips, and a waist strong enough to take a punch, Danielle looks more like a boy than a girl. Her straight, short black hair only furthers this perception, as it’s just barely long enough to brush the hinge of her jaw. Her boyish figure is enhanced with stormy gray eyes and olive skin. In fact, the only thing about her body that looks girly is her small hands, feet, and her wrists that look ridiculously dainty. Needless to say, most people don’t notice this unless focused on her hands, which doesn’t happen often.

She can generally be found wearing a simple T-shirt (which changes in colors, patterns, and sometimes even has logos on it) and flared jeans. Her footwear of choice is a pair of black sneakers, and she’ll sometimes throw on a navy blue zipperless hoodie if it’s cold outside. She’ll also sometimes choose to wear turtleneck sweaters if she really feels like it. Rarely does she wear feminine clothing, not because she dislikes it, but because it just doesn’t look quite right on her. Danielle never wears makeup either, and her jewelry remains mostly untouched, unless it’s a special occasion.

History: Danielle comes from a large family. With a meister for a father, a weapon for a mother, three older brothers and a younger sister, all of which are either a weapon or a meister themselves – well, things could get very hectic. At the age of ten, Danielle was allowed, and sometimes expected, to babysit her little sister. Considering the fact that Elly’s favorite game was ‘watch me turn my arm into a sword’ at the age of seven, Danielle had to learn to deal with the mayhem that came with looking after her, including, but not limited to, how to treat wounds (always given unintentionally) how to clean up broken glass and pottery, and how to sew.

Between the ages of ten and fifteen, Danielle tried to keep herself looking as girly as possible without resorting to wearing pink. As such, she tried to keep her hair long. Unfortunately, between her brothers, her sister, and her training, she was simply unable to do so as it continually got damaged. She finally got it cut short to keep things simple, and she hates her hairstyle to this day.

Even though Danielle grew up in such a weapon and meister oriented household, her own powers remained latent for years. Though her parents knew she had potential, it refused to manifest itself. Finally, after years of waiting and training her in martial arts in an attempt to jumpstart it, they sent her off to Shibusen in the hopes that being there might do something for her. Danielle didn’t really care that much; on the contrary, she wanted to go to the school that every single one of her siblings had or still did attend despite the fact that she was completely unaware that she had even the slightest bit of potential. She was fifteen.

Eight months, three weeks, and two and a half days later, her powers finally manifested.

She’d been trying (read: failing) to convince another student that yes, she was actually allowed to go here when it happened. The meister had not been happy with her, claiming that she was just a waste of space since she didn’t have any abilities, and when he tried to start a fight – well, he’d been very surprised. Danielle had thrown a punch that knocked him flat on his back, stood on his stomach, and yelled at him for about a minute. She probably would have scolded him for longer (and attracted even more attention; there was quite a crowd at this point), but something changed. It was as though a switch had been flipped inside of her. The next thing she, and everyone else, knew, she was a giant old fashioned can opener attempting to pin the meister to the ground.

It’s been about six months since then, and Danielle’s been doing her best to try and train. It’s also been very hard for her to find a meister, partially because she’s such an odd weapon that nobody’s entirely sure how to, and partially due to the fact that… Well, she’s a can opener. It’s not exactly what people generally think of as a weapon.

Personality: Danielle is a fairly calm person by nature, and years of dealing with annoying siblings have upped her tolerance to annoyance and general noise. It’s easy for her to tune people out, and as such, she can focus easily in a room filled with noisy students. This finely honed focus also allows her to snap in and out of it at will, so she can reply to people talking to her and then go right back to whatever she’s doing as though there was no interruption at all. This focus also applies to any fights or training she may be in, though at times like that, her focus is spread to cover everything, and so she is aware of everything that happens around her.

Though usually calm and collected, Danielle does get angry, and when she does, it’s best to stay out of her way. She is not above punching people and ranting when she gets angry – and she can be loud, a necessity from living with four loud siblings. Of course, to get Danielle mad requires some effort, and in the past could usually only be achieved by repeatedly mistaking her for a boy, whether on purpose or accidentally, or by bullying someone in her vicinity. Nowadays, however, she’s rather touchy about her weapon form, so calling her a kitchen appliance is probably not the best idea.

Her rather violent temper and cool demeanor hide a humorous girl who has a seemingly innate ability to make light of any situation and break awkward silences with a perfectly suited line. Danielle loves to make people laugh and laugh herself, and she has quite a collection of funny lines and jokes written on notebooks that have a special place on her bookshelf. She dislikes blatant jokes, and instead prefers jokes of the witty variety, jokes that make people think for a moment before they understand it. Plays on words are some of her favorites.

In fact, many of her pastimes include words. In her spare time, Danielle enjoys playing word games (especially Scrabble), and she writes limericks and short stories. Occasionally she’ll pound out a lengthy poem of epic contents, but those are rare and linked with important occasions. Her liking for words means that she has a rather large and clever vocabulary, and sometimes her mouth will run away with her, leading to some very smart-alecky comments.

Abilities:
Technique Name: Complete Transformation
Effects/Description: This simply means that Danielle transforms into her weapon form and can be wielded by a meister. Whilst in weapon form, Danielle is literally a four foot tall old fashioned can opener. Her handle is made of dense, polished wood that’s a lovely warm brown in color. The handle is two thirds of the length and roughly six inches in diameter, while the rest of the four feet is dedicated to the can opener head. The steel forms two blades, one longer than the other, the shorter one curved, connected by a thicker plate of steel in the center that folds over at the end, creating a loop. The steel is decorated with a toothy blue pattern along the inside of the curved blade that goes up along the edges of the folded steel loop and lines the inside of the straight blade.

Technique Name: Skull Cracker
Effects/Description: When infused with soul wavelength by the meister, the bladed head of the can opener is surrounded by a small aura roughly three inches wide that must be used to strike the opponent in the head if the technique is to work properly. If the attack connects, it causes a complete inability to focus in the opponent for three minutes, accompanied and partially caused by the vision going all wonky (i.e. fading in and out, blurring, spinning; depends on the opponent). This can sometimes be joined by nausea, depending on the individual. After the three minutes are up, the affected returns to normal with no adverse side effects. If the attack does not hit the head but somewhere else on the body, it causes a very small Soul Menace affect, which hurts a lot but does not debilitate the enemy in any way. Note that this technique can only be used while she’s in complete transformation.

Combat Style: Danielle tends to gravitate towards the offensive, though she is fairly adept at blocking and dodging hits. Training has given her balance and her attention to her surroundings means that she doesn’t trip or anything. However, she doesn’t have a great deal of stamina and so can’t take a lot of hits.

Miscellaneous Information: She likes watching fish, particularly colorful, interesting, or amusing ones. Crabs are her favorites.

Strengths:

  • Physical strength (Martial arts)
  • Focus
  • Can easily stop arguments

Weaknesses:

  • Lesser stamina
  • Has a violent temper when provoked; loses her focus
  • Prone to jealousy

Roleplay Sample: “Dani! Guess what?”

Danielle flicked her gaze up from her book to see her younger sister hopping excitedly in place, dark hair falling over her shoulder as she wriggled. A bolt of jealousy shot through her; why was it that her sister two years younger than her had a more feminine form than she did? Enviously, Danielle let herself give Elly a quick appraisal from feet to face. No, it was not fair that her younger sister had more curves than she did plus long hair, which always seemed to get ruined whenever she tried it. “What?” she said blandly, not letting any of her thoughts leak through.

Because she was not jealous. Not even a teeny bit.

“I’ve got a mission!” Elly grinned widely and spread her arms wide. “Me and Aaron –“

“Aaron and I,” Danielle corrected automatically.

“Whatever. We’re going to Venice! Apparently there’s something really big going on. Soul trafficking or something like that.”

“Don’t die,” Danielle offered as a last bit of lame advice. Her sister, however, didn’t hear, apparently too caught up in the thought of going to Venice with her meister slash boyfriend for a week. Though it was an assignment -- the life of a pupil at Shibusen was anything but easy -- it didn't look as though Elly much cared.

“Anyways, I just thought you should know,” Elly finished up. “Bye!”

Danielle watched the retreating, curvaceous figure of her little sister until she vanished through the door. With a sigh, the weapon returned to her book, eyes wandering for a moment until she found her place. Absolutely not jealous at all.

Hi there SanityStealer! Sorry it has taken quite so long to mod the profile :P Let's get down to business shall we?

Personality:

I am a little confused – first you say that she doesn't like puns and then you say she likes a play on words (a pun) – perhaps you changed this halfway through?

Abilities:

Please make sure to include any and all abilities you want your character to start with (including partial transformation)

Could you please copy and/or move the weapon description to the abilities full transformation area?

Skull Cracker – this is unique and interesting as an ability, I really enjoyed seeing someone with something new and well thought out~

Overall:

This is a great profile and it has been a pleasure to read through it. I enjoyed your history, even though I hear it took a lot of writing ^__^ I have been generally impressed with the amount of effort and detail that has gone into this profile. Danielle is well balanced and has a lot of potential for development. I really look forward to seeing you join our RPing community~ One last thing you might want to consider is checking through our rules and guidelines. I know that they aren't much different from any other set of Rping rules and guidelines but Shini and I like to know that everyone has read and agreed to them :3

*facepalm* This is what I get when I finish writing profiles at midnight.

Well, got that embarrassing personality failure fixed...

I've also moved the weapon description -- and as of right now she doesn't have a partial transformation. So that missing ability is actually intentional.

EDIT: Does that work?
