Refusing to chuckle at the sudden outbursts and the blue mist that accompanied them (even though the hilarity of it showed in her eyes), Ellis accepted the offered hand and patted the horse's side knowingly. "Ya don' seem the kind to be ridin' like a princess, but if you'll humor me, Yvandes is really sweet." Shrugging, she added, "But, then again, we're not far from th' school. Care for a walk?" Leading the young woman by the hand and keeping the other on the horse's neck to steady it, the trussed up cowgirl led both towards the party.

As they walked, she kept a respectful silence for a while, thinking about her companion's words and actions carefully. She was tricked into this, too, then. Well, we're in this together; I just hope she doesn't hate me for it by the end. I have to admit, though; she's cute when she's angry. Giving a sidelong glance as they turned a corner, Ellis had to smile again. In light of this all, she still didn't know her name.

"Ya know, lass, ya ne'er answered my question," she stated softly, pulling her partner slightly to the side to keep her from stepping in a puddle. "Though, I s'pose I ain' been forthright myself. My name's Ellis, that is; Ellis Winchester. And you?"

She was trying to make her as comfortable as possible; keeping things casual and light-hearted, being respectful and honest. Truth be told, she was fairly well nervous. When was the last time she'd been on a date, serious or not?

Before Ko left. Long before she left... maybe two years ago? Something like that...

The thought came and went quickly, allowing her to focus once again on the girl of the evening. She agreed that those girls were being unusually cruel to her just to make the Irish-American dress like Vanyel (as she had for Song's "audition"). They really could have just asked her themselves. This is what I get for giving conditions. Note to self, lass; do not do that again when the opponent is a spiteful teenage girl.

Absently, she brushed the hair in her face aside, fingers lingering for a moment on her scarred right eye before returning to the stallion's warm flesh. It was a habit, not one she was aware of, but common nonetheless.

Ashton cringed at the conversation before him. Oh no, no no no this was not supposed to happen! His friends were supposed to be on his side! Granted, yes, he had not yet spoken a word about the covert war between his father and himself to Jenna, as she pointed out. Ashton whispered back:

"Well, jeez... It's not like this was a big issue or secret. He's just a nuisance."

Jenna's reacton was to stand in place, doing nothing. Or, at least, that's how it appeared to Ashton. He had become used to being around Jenna and hence simply tuned out the faint squeaking of her cords shifting about. His father however was not, and raised an eyebrow at the odd noise. As Jenna's tentacles were still wrapped up and obscured by her frilly dress, he was unable to discern the real source of the noise.

Shen would remember it, but dismissed the notion for the moment when Jenna spoke to him again. And... hah! This one was sharp. He liked this girl. Shen laughed quietly, a sort of nefarious chuckle under his breath. He stroked his bears and stood back for a second, letting the duo in front of him make their comments. Introductions to his son's friends were always fun.

"He seems nice."

Ashton, still attempting to hide behind Jenna, shot her a furious look. The effort of hiding behind her was ultimately futile, seeing as he was a fair bit taller than the meister. After about a minute, he simply gave up on it and stood up straight, looking a bit irked.

“There’s my boy!” Shen said happily, in a tone of voice that sounded more like he was talking to a five-year old. He beamed at Ashton for a second, then abruptly turned to the side.He gestured at a table that the staff were putting the final touches on; a beautiful display of crystal bowls, which were currently being filled with pitchers of red liquid.

“Chinese New Year’s not for another few weeks, but that doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate this one, eh?” he said, his grin turning devious again. Sticking a hand in his pocket, he produced a medium sized flask and shook it slightly. "And since the champagne's not coming out until midnight..."

"I do not believe you." Ashton stared blankly at his father. Shen shook the flask again, taunting Ashton to do something about it. The weapon stepped out from behind Jenna and determinedly followed his father, who was heading straight for the punch table. He would turn around every few steps to taunt the boy further, and would dodge out of the way any time Ashton attempted to grab him.

This turned out to be to the weapon's advantage. As they neared the table, Ashton spotted approaching from the other end the boy in the top hat, the blind one. The one who punched people by means of saying hello. Shen, it appeared, hadn't spotted him yet.

With some quick thinking, Ashton lunged at his parent in a way that when he dodged, the man would step backwards. Which he did. Shen was extraordinarily good at evasion, that was for sure. However, Ashton thought, if his spur-of-the-moment plan went as he wanted, then his father would be in for a rough time in just a few seconds...

Will grinned as he wove his way through the crowd, heading in as direct a line as he could for the foodstuffs. How did he know the food was in this direction? Well he didn't – but he'd already tried every other direction, some of them twice (mostly because he stopped to dance with someone for a song, and found himself lost). The pumping bass had been turned on which always made him feel giddy and excited – the blind boy could practically feel his blood pumping to the beat. People were bumping into him left and right as they danced, and Will took advantage of the situation, falling on them, his hands would dip into their pockets as they scrambled to get back up. Trinkets and baubles went missing from one person and were transferred to the next. It was like a game of musical chairs where the chairs were pockets and the players were anything from spare change, to wallets, student ID cards or pocket fluff – anything and everything was pilfered and moved on to the next person to be stumbled upon.

Roughly speaking, Will was still making his way towards the drinks. In his pocket he had a flask of vodka with which he planned to spice up the otherwise dull fruit cordials – after all, the champagne didn't come out 'till midnight. Alas what the blind weapon did not know, was that Ashton's father was about to beat him to the punch – literally. A flailing arm caught the side of Will's head as Shen leapt backwards to avoid his son. Will was knocked face first into a bowl of punch, which splattered all over his dress clothes, and covered his face and hair. The weapon pulled away from the drinks table clutching at his face. Having had years of experience and practice at such situations, Will was ready to take full advantage of the situation. Rivulets of bright red fluid ran from his hair and through his fingers, dripping from his nose and miniature well trimmed beard, as the immediate area quickly cleared of people who were not keen for a bath of fruity cordial. The only people left behind were Will and Shen, who had also copped a liberal coating of the sugary liquid.

“AARRRRRRGGG MY EYES! DAMN IT HURTS SO MUCH!”

screamed Will, barely making himself heard over the pumping music. He stumbled backwards, slipping and landing on the floor. Breathing heavily, the teen slowly and dramatically peeled his hands away from his face, before peering sightlessly around him, face twisting with horror,

“I- can't see, I think I'm... I'm BLIND!”

he shrieked. Apparently horror-struck, the teen groped blindly until his hands met with Shen's pant leg, which he grasped tightly. Looking up towards where the man's face should be Will sobbed,

“Oh God, I can't see ANYTHING... Someone, ANYONE...

Will slowly picked himself up, using Shen as a support. He clutched at the other man's shoulder before hugging his sopping wet body against Shen, and sobbing vigorously.

Someone will have to tell my parents! And my lover, Suzy - she's in the hospital - SUZY! WILL I NEVER SEE YOU AGAIN!? AND TOTO MY DOG. I used to love watching him play on the beach! So many things I'll never be able to look at... I'll never see a double rainbow! ... I'll never be an astronaut! What of my dreams of seeing Earth from the moon, with Toto and Suzy? Poor innocent Suzy... I promised her..."

Will's voice broke with sorrow as he heaved massive theatrical sobs, hugging Shen tightly to prevent the man from escaping the scene.

Jayne walked in uncomfortable silence. Most of her attention was diverted to her hand – it was holding another person's hand. It was... uncomfortable. To Jayne, physical contact necessarily entailed violence – a stranglehold was fine, a punch? Also fine. Holding hands in a non-violent way was just plain disturbing, and frankly more intimate than the pirate girl wanted to be with anyone. The horse was another thing. Although Jayne would never admit it (even to herself) horses were very scary. They were big, and Jayne reckoned they could probably bite off a person's fingers if they wanted to, or that they would break your foot if they stood on it. She wanted to stay as far away from the horse as possible – to give it a respectful distance, in the same way that one would give a box of TNT a respectful distance, or a an insane, rabid dog. For this reason she couldn't appreciate the warm smell of the horse, nor the comforting presence it had – her inexperience with equine led her to view it as unpredictable and dangerous... also she had already forgotten the horse's name and it would be rude to ask for it again. Thinking of which – she didn't know her date's name either. Jayne grimaced, thinking it would probably be something horrible like Cinderella or something difficult to remember or pronounce like Addfwyn or Dwyryd or 'Hello I'm Welsh and we hate vowels'. She would probably have to spend the rest of the night carefully avoiding having to say the person's name and then hope that they never met up again.

With a heavy sigh, Jayne went to walk through a muddy puddle, thinking only of getting to the party and wondering where on earth they were going to park the horse... if that is even what one did with horses. Would … whatserface just waltz up to the valet and say 'here are the keys, try not to get 'er too scratched up'? What was the protocol for these situations? Before Jayne's musings could become too ridiculous (horses, afros, disco – oh no too late) she found herself gently pulled away from the up-coming puddle. Jayne looked up, surprised that her would-be date had been so thoughtful. The girl was smiling sweetly,

"Ya know, lass, ya ne'er answered my question, though, I s'pose I ain' been forthright myself. My name's Ellis, that is; Ellis Winchester. And you?"

Jayne paused for a bit, memorising the name 'Ellis'. Luckily the girl had a lamprophony to her speech that made it easy to hear what she was saying – not like some people who only ever mumble and you ended up having to ask for their name twenty times before you actually heard it right.

“I'm Jayne – Jayne Silver. So now you know my name you should stop calling me lass, okay.”

Jayne subsided into silence. Up ahead Shibusen loomed. The hall glittered with many coloured lights, and the air vibrated to the rhythm of the music, which was only one tenth of the volume that could be expected once Jayne and Ellis were actually inside. Ellis too seemed to grow a little distant, and Jayne wondered if perhaps she had been too harsh. It certainly wouldn't have been the first time that her abrasive personality had caused a date to come to an abrupt end – in fact it wouldn't even be a second time, or a third time. The current record holder for the longest lasting date was a boy who had found himself forcefully ejected from a second story window one hour into the date in question. Other contestants had found themselves with broken wrists, and blunt force trauma to the back of the skull. In short, Jayne had often found it convenient to make sure her dates took place within walking distance of the nearest general hospital.

Generally speaking, Jayne liked silences – it meant she didn't have to engage in banal conversation. In this case it was just awkward to be holding someone's hand and not talking to them. Ellis had clearly gone to a lot of trouble, and it's not like she was at fault here. Jayne searched for something that she might have in common with the girl beside her,

'Well we both got stuck on a blind date... that's uh... one common factor.'

“So – do you like...”

'horses? Well no shit, yeah I think she likes horses, let's see if we can't find something more obvious, eh Jayne? Women? Why not ask if she likes women?'

a sarcastic mental voice offered unhelpfully. Having already started the ill-fated question, Jayne felt bound to finish it or look like an idiot.

“Guns?”

she finished lamely. It was a fair bet – if this person attended Shibusen they were either a weapon or a meister, and their predilection toward horses, and somewhat drawling accent made Jayne think of cowboysgirls and all things associated. All things considered, she was probably just lucky her mind hadn't supplied the question 'do you like whips' because that would probably be taken the wrong way entirely. Luckily by this time they had almost reached the party, and soon the music would be uncomfortably loud, and conversation would be put on the backburner.

"I'm Jayne – Jayne Silver. So now you know my name you should stop calling me lass, okay.”

Ellis nodded as if pleased, allowing the conversation to lapse back into an unobtrusive silence. Little by little, it seemed that her date -Jayne, she made a point to remember- was relaxing, preferring to drift off into her own thoughts rather than focus on what was going on. Honestly, it was all right by her; patience was something one learned rather quickly when close to shy creatures, be they human or animal. She had certainly had enough practice with the former the last few years and the latter most of her life.

The hand clasped lightly in her own seemed to fidget slightly, and she glanced over just as Jayne asked her a question.

"So, do you like..." She seemed to hesitate, embarrassed, then continued, "Guns?"

Before she could stop it, the cowgirl's sense of humor burst forth in a whole-hearted laugh. All of the irony of the evening was just too much at this point, and the unknowingly simple question was enough to break any tension she still had. Her sudden laughter seemed to make both woman and horse startle a bit, so she patted the stallion's side lightly, squeezing the held appendage with even more care. Letting the laugh fall into a soft chuckle, the red-head (wigged black for the night) smiled honestly at Jayne.

"Well, I would 'ope so," she answered. "Seein' as 'ow my weapon self is a rifle, it'd be a bit awkward if I don'." She released the pirate's hand for a moment to pat the butt of her revolver lightly, the rosewood grip worn with decades of usage. "Don' even need my pistol loaded for it ta work either. Only need it jus' in case som'thin' I cain' handle shows up." Seeing that the lack of contact seemed to relax her date, she let her hand rest at her side, still smiling.

As they reached the steps of the front entrance, a group of young women huddled at the top, speaking in whispers unheard and glancing their way with expressions of both amusement and excitement. Ellis made a point of looking directly at them until the group scurried inside, then glanced around. Seeing that her sister (date-spy that she was) relaxed nearby on a bench, she held up a hand to Jayne to wait and walked the fair creature to the other Winchester.

"All righ', Alice. Take 'im back to th' stable an' make sure he's settled for th' night."

"'Kay. Have fun on your date!" The sprightly preteen was on the horse and out of arms reach before her older sister could smack her, and Ellis growled irritably to herself before taking a deep breath and walking back to her reason for being out tonight at all. Holding her hand out palm up for Jayne to take if she wished, she smiled once more.

She really is quite lovely. "Do ya 'ave a preference yourself, Jayne? Or do firearms no suit yer tastes quite as much?"

It was actually kinda of amusing that their conversation had taken such a turn, but if Miss Silver was relaxed and happy, she would talk about damned near anything.

"I'm not your or anyone else's toy," Hitomi said in a whisper, already regretting her own actions. Of course it was accidental, but she could have watched where she was going. Her whole face seemed to shift down and away from Sivan, almost a grimace. She was not a happy camper. Now she would have people to talk with, yes, but it was Sivan and a group of his friends afterall so who knew what they were like.

When Sivan wrapped his arm around her shoulder, Hitomi shuddered and tried to pull away from him, but seemed stuck as he felt the material. She was seriously about to slap this guy if he would try to steal a feel again like the last time. Measurement-shmeasurement, he was just a perv.

"Oh. . . well thank you," Hitomi's face went red when he complimented her dress, but then he continued to speak, "Excuse me?!" Her arms crossed up over her chest area protectively. Who was he to speak of her that way? "Did it ever occur to you that I don't like tight clothing?" she snapped, but that wasn't all she had to say to him, "Besides you only know my measurements because you took them from me!" She pulled out of Sivan's grasp and stepped off to the side a little, ready to storm off but not ready to be alone again.

Just as Hitomi narrowly missed being held by Sivan, he had her in his grasp once again. This time one of his hands was on her hip and the other outstretching her hand. He then continued to introduce her to his friends, this making Hitomi's red face start to steam as she remembered they were still there and listening. Then, of all things, the guy who introduced himself as blind grabbed the nearest waiter and began kissing his arm thinking it was Hitomi. The sight of this made her giggle as she brought up one hand to her lips to cover it up. She didn't want to appear as rude.

Suddenly, Hitomi remembered that she was still being held up like a doll on display. Realizing this she snapped her other hand out of Sivan's grasp and firmly removed his other hand from her waist. She did not like being touched by an acquantice, especially in those areas. An acquantice? Is that what she considered Sivan? Well maybe he was afterall.

Then, the other guy, only said 'hey' and she was not able to learn his name. Hitomi held her hands behind her back. Neither of them seemed like the chatty type, but she wouldn't be alone on New Years at the least, even if it wasn't exactly with people she would normally hang out with, well she thought. Being a bit of a closet romantic though, she had come alone hoping that maybe she'd find someone at the party and they would kiss at midnight. Of course that was just her being a closet romantic and did not actually expect it to occur. It didn't help her case that she did not like meeting new people on her own. The thought of it scared her.

Suddenly, the blind guy went off just mumbling to himself. Hitomi blinked a few times before turning back to the other two guys standing there. The other boy (the 'hey' one) tried to start up some conversation. His question was simple enough.

"Well I kinda ran into Sivan at a restaurant, literally." Hitomi said, looking to the floor, not being much of a conversation maker. Her head jerked up at a sudden screaming, she couldn't make out the words, but she thought it was the blind boy from before. . . . screaming about being blind?

Jayne slipped into her partial transformation, giving her a hook for a hand. It was the girls! Ellis may have been fine just glaring at them but Jayne had a score to settle and she was going to do it right here and now... the only trouble was her dress. Unused to wearing such a thing, Jayne trod firmly on the hem. Luckily it was not as delicate as it looked, and the pirate weapon avoided tearing her clothing, but on the other hand she stumbled and nearly fell flat on her face. Fuming as the group of girls at the top of the stairs fled, Jayne reluctantly allowed her partial transformation to fade away. Ellis, perhaps sensing Jayne's blood-lust, steered her date away from the main entrance, instead walking her over to a stranger who seemed suspiciously amused by the whole situation. Luckily it turned out to be a person who was there for the horse. They skittered away like a gremlin, leaping onto the horse as though they were magnetised to the saddle, and charging away, only looking back to call out well wishes to Ellis. Jayne scowled and blushed furiously. Just how many people knew about this date thing anyway? This was getting ridiculous. How was it that everyone except her seemed to know what was going on?

CLUNK Jayne's fist met the table hard enough to rattle the otherwise solid wood frame. Her eyes were screwed shut with irritation. Okay – so maybe she wasn't the prettiest girl at the party and maybe she didn't usually wear a dress. Maybe she looked like a pig in a blanket and was as graceful as a legless parrot. Jayne Silver knew how to party. what the hell did it matter that no one else really thought she was girly enough anyway? She could beat them all with her arms tied behind her back, so whatever their opinions were they weren't worth much. Ellis may not have gotten a sweet little thing as her date, but Jayne reckoned she could show a girl a good time. Letting out a sigh, Jayne opened her eyes again and grinned at Ellis.

“Okay, so I guess the next thing I should ask is – Do you know how to dance?”

The two walked into the hall where the party was already in full swing. On the outer edges of the dance floor there stood a few knots of people talking. Near the food table some idiot had knocked over a bowl of punch. All around music blared, and the lights were spinning and twirling enough to make a person seasick if they tried to follow them for too long. Jayne pulled Ellis enthusiastically onto the dance floor, grinning widely.

What Jayne knew of dance she had picked up from her grandpa, who was insane, but he still had it – oh yeah baby. Most of the kids had enjoyed Grandpa's dancing though, because it involved a lot of swinging your partner around, and wasn't the coolest of dance styles (in fact it looked downright silly, and most of the adults present to witness it rolled their eyes in horror at the outdated moves). For children, however, being swung wildly around so that your feet fly right off the floor was the best type of dancing there could be. Hence Jayne's style of dancing was very similar to boogie. Usually this involved a lot of legwork, but being in a dress restricted the weapon too much for such things, and so instead there was more twirling and shimmying than usual. When she twirled her dress billowed out slightly, and shone prettily in the light, which Jayne was secretly very pleased about. After one invigorating dance, the music slowed somewhat, and the weapon suggested that a drink might be nice, so she and Ellis wandered hand in hand to the food tables. Somehow holding Ellis' hand seemed fine now that they were finally at the party, and had already had a dance. Jayne found that she couldn't stop grinning, having thrown off her anxieties and anger temporarily. It felt good to just relax, and nice to be out on a date.

Finding themselves at a table where the music wasn't quite so overpowering, Jayne turned her smile on Ellis.

“You asked me if firearms were to my taste? Personally, I like getting right into a fight with my fists, but I don't mind them. I shot my brother in the foot once by accident though, and since then my dad decided I should learn how to handle a gun properly. That was with old styles though – I'm not too familiar with modern guns - though... there are some guns I wouldn't mind getting to know a little better.”

The pirate girl smiled cheekily at Ellis, finally enjoying herself.

Apparently the man with the disfigured clothing who had punched Sivan in the face was blind, or so he said as he then began to make sweet romantic kiss love to a waiter's arm before fondling the man's chest. Sivan internally frowned at the groping, it's not correct to grope the chest. You should only measure it for the size of clothes needed to wear not for pleasure. Sivan looked back at Hitomi as he took note of her chest. He wouldn't grope or fondle them, it's wrong, but he never found anything wrong in getting the size.

Then the blind man ran off as if he knew which way was right even when he goes left. Sivan quietly laughed at the humor in that. Sure he was blind, but it was still pretty funny.

Going back to the matters at hand, the boy with the dirty clothes had said a few words before asking a question. How did the awesome duo meet? Sivan ran the thought through his head as he recalled the shenanigans that occurred at the restaurant. Holding back a big smile, he spoke once Hitomi stopped speaking.

"Well you see, she bumped into me at a restaurant. I saw her, fell in love with her beautiful body, got some quick measurements, invited her to lunch and after that I believed we hit it off as friends." Sivan rolled off the things quickly as he recalled them and as he finished he turned to Hitomi and smiled, and that's when the blind man began screaming he was blind. Sivan shrugged it off as he smiled on the inside. That dude was crazy.

"How about you sir, who are you and stuff about yourself and blah blah blah." Sivan said in a very ungraceful tone as he put a hand on Felix's shoulder.

"Well I kinda ran into Sivan at a restaurant, literally."

Felix made a mental note of the girl's clumsiness, and snickered, loud enough for her to hear. "Well that was smart," he said under his breath.

"Well you see, she bumped into me at a restaurant. I saw her, fell in love with her beautiful body, got some quick measurements, invited her to lunch and after that I believed we hit it off as friends."

Just as Felix was about to say something about that being a little too blunt and how Hitomi didn't seem too happy about it, Will, somewhere at one of the food tables, started screaming for a reason he didn't know. Felix instictively yelped as well but quickly closed his mouth. He realized there was no danger as he looked over to the white-haired weapon.

He glared at Will, eye twitching in anger - and maybe embarassment, that scream was reaaaally girly. He yelled back at Will also very loudly but without the desperation and with a lot of swear words added in. He tired out quickly, his voice hurting from all those harsh not-so-PG-13 words.

"How about you sir, who are you and stuff about yourself and blah blah blah," Sivan asked him, apparently oblivious to his very foul language.

Felix growled slightly before shoving the blunette's hand off his shoulder. Personal space, anybody? Felix was starting to feel more and more violated because of this party. Nonetheless, he answered Sivan's question. "Well, the name's Felix King. I'm a weapon and I hate my partner. What else do you need to know, mate?" He said it rather casualmean, trying to wave off the extremely feminine shriek from earlier as if it was nothing. It was said in a mostly nonchalant way, but he was betrayed by the obvious rudeness at the end.

"And anything interesting about you guys? I doubt, but still." Felix said in his natural angry-as-heck tone. Hey, at least he was chatting.

Hitomi glared at the guy as he snickered at her explanation. So far she wasn't liking this guy all that much. He didn't seem very polite in the least bit. Was there no one at Shibusen with a little bit of class? It seemed that way.

Then, Sivan felt the need to give a different explanation. Of course Hitomi's would not suffice. It was expected, but how could someone fall in love with a body? Sure he was a seamstress, but really? It almost sounded like some cheesy line from a movie, well almost. Instead of replying to his explanation, she just restrained herself from rolling her eyes and face palming. Then again though, Sivan was the only other person who had taken any interest at all in her besides M since she had arrived. Maybe he was a friend?

Suddenly, the guy yelped as the blind guy started screaming. Then, of course, he started shouting and cursing at the blind guy. It was quite an odd scene to behold. In response to it, she took a staggering step backwards and nearly tripped over herself, again. Hoping that nobody saw it, she pretended to brush dirt off her dress. Which was really quite silly seeing as there was no dirt to get on her dress.

Felix's (as he had said) response to Sivan's question was even stranger. Apparently he didn't like his partner at all and he was a weapon. Then he asked them a question in return.

Crossing her arms, Hitomi replied:

"To be honest no. Nothing interesting at all about me. I'm a fan meister, but my weapon seems to have gone missing." Her tone was sarcastic (beginning) and uncaring as she stared at Felix. The way he was acting made her almost wish he would just go away, but then that would leave her alone with Sivan and in all honesty, she was quite afraid of that. Why was he acting so angry? Might something have happened while she was absent from the small group they had formed. If he was then why was he still hanging around them?

((Don't laugh at me and my small post TT^TT))
