Books, they were the unappreciated invention of mankind. They were beautiful spelling out words and navigating the world through beautiful literary nuance. They filled the mind with more than just facts and knowledge; books were a source of hope, of promise, of love, and of escape. In one bound tome a million thoughts and dreams could live. A single line could bring tears or bring joy and worlds different and far more complex could unfold and briefly become real. Sahd savored the fruits of her labor, having learned to read later than her peers she now could not get quite enough of stories of hope and friendship.

She wandered the shelves, her light steps keeping the library serene and peaceful. Doe-like eyes gazed upwards at the books overhead, then down at the scrap of paper in her hand. The book she sought, ‘ Excalibur’ was on the upper most shelf. Carefully she ran the ladder along its rails and climbed it, with one small hand lifting the trim of her pale blue and white checker yukata just enough so she wouldn’t trip. At the top she pulled the book free using both hands. Unfortunately a loose screw on the ladder caught on her yukata. Both hands occupied with her book and with no way to balance herself Sahd let out a very small and quiet “n-no!” before tumbling backwards destined to hit the unforgiving floor with her diminutive and fragile frames. A few more books rattled from the shelves following her descent.

Yet there was only a rustling of cloth and a soft ‘thud’ and rustle of paper from the fallen books. on the floor where a body should have laid was a fine white cloth, books nestled and scattered on top of it.

For a brief moment Sahd didn’t move, as she tried forget how clumsy she’d been. Then slowly the cloth moved in a room devoid of a draft or of any sort of wind. Two corners stretched outwards reaching upwards, with very soft bells barely making a noise. Sahd stretched and tugged and found herself stuck beneath the several books that had pinned her down. The inexplicably moving cloth twisted and turned and tried to push off or move some of the books but seemed too weak to lift their weight and free itself.

Today was yet another training day. Rikey didn't really have a social life outside of his few close friends and Sonia, so whenever he wasn't with them, he was out and about training. His small apartment didn't have much more than a bed and a computer to occupy his time which is why he trained so much. Most of the time it was heavy physical training like forcing his body to work out in extreme conditions to strengthen his endurance, but today was not one of those days. This was his rare intellectual training day. This only happened one day a week and it was done because Rikey firmly believed that a strong mind is just as important as a strong body. A hero must be strong while a noble must be well educated. Keeping to those two ideals, Rikey always had a day set where he would go to the library and read anything.

Books offeres some of the purest forms of information to Rikey, He didn't need to be socially aware of today's setting to learn about the past and he didn't need others to help him. When it came to reading books, it was like going on a quest of self actualization. Sure you didn't realize yourself, but you realized a new you who now held the marvelous informations a book can hold. During these intellectual study days, Rikey usually read non fiction and loads of biography and as such, he had a pile of books next to him. These books focused on the Enlightenment. The idea of rational thinking of religious thinking. There was nothing like a good...

Jingle Jingle

A light jingling started to ring throuhgout the library. Needless to say, it interrupted Rikey's important mental training day. Rikey tried to discard the idea that someone would be making such atrocious noises in the library as he continued to focused on his studies. Surely the librarian would come and silence the criminal who was interrupting the holy silence of the library. As Rikey settled into a good excerpt about the bourbon reforms from spain it happened once more.

Jingle Jingle Jingle Jingle

The jingling was a bit louder and much more frequent. The now exasperated Rikey stood up with a disappointed look on his face. He never truly expressed anger and sometimes seemed to act like a parent figure when it came to him being upset at someone else. As he neared the noise, Rikey spoke up. "Excuse me, but it is not apprecia..." Rikey stopped in his track as he watched a Cloth struggling to escape from the books it was trapped under. There was nary a breeze nor any form of heavy breathing to make a cloth act like this. Rikey seeing the cloth acting strangely, walked over and took the books off from the cloth. There was only one logical explanation as to how a cloth could move without any outside interaction in this crazy place. "Excuse me, but are you a fully transformed weapon?" Rikey asked with his noble tone being heard in the way he talked.

Sahd struggled, forgetting briefly that her bells would seem much louder in the quiet of the library. Perhaps though the librarian would come and help her for Sahd didn’t know what to do. Would transforming back free her or would she actually be crushed beneath the weight of the several books. She felt her old and constant enemy cloud her mind as every bit of her delicate self-esteem crumbled.

Then someone was there and helping her. The death shroud twisted as the last book was lifted and she was freed. She hovered slightly, and even circled around Rikey once before the familiar glow of light signaling a transformation occurred. Sahd stood in front of the kind student, her 4 foot and 2 and barely 50lb frame clarified why she had not simply transformed back. Her small frame would have easily been crushed “y-yes…I-I was….I-I’m a ….death shroud…” Her voice was very gentle, and very quiet, and it held very little confidence.

“T-thank you…for h-helping me…” She bowed her head politely. Her weight shifted from foot to foot as she seemed uncomfortable talking. Rikey’s noble tone was unfamiliar to Sahd and she felt rather inadequate under the gaze of the older boy.

“S-sorry…I must have disturbed you…” she wondered if this was when a person should introduce themselves. “I’m Sahdaiyes…b-but I get called Sahd s-sometimes...w-were you studying?”

The cloth circled Rikey before transforming before him into a small young lady. Her body seemed to be very frail and she seemed to be very conservative herself. As she spoke, she spoke with uncertainty and the lack of confidence had cause Rikey to drop his disappointment. He couldn't remain mad at this young lady. She seemed to be embarassed enough as it was. She continued to thank Rikey for the help he gave her and that made Rikeu blush a bit. He was ready to give her a stern talking to and now he couldn't help but withhold from trying to coddle her like a child. Then the girl with the frail stature apologized for the ruckus she made.

"No, I must apologize. I came in biased towards one action and never considered that someone would be in trouble." It was Rikey's turn to bow down in a respectful manner. "I apologize that I did not come to assist you sooner." Rikey looked back up at Sahdaiyes as he smiled softly and looked at her with kind eyes. His lips formed a smile as he returned to a tall stature once more. "My name is Rikey Baltinez. I am a meister at this establishment, and there is no problem here. I was merely catching up on the enlightenment."

Rikey casted a glance towards the books that were on the floor. Something about excalibur and other things were strewn all over the floor. The least Rikey could do to help Sahd was bring the books to her table. "Excuse me my lovely friend, may I escort you to your seat.?" Rikey bent down as he picked up the books that were all over the floor. "It is the least I can do." Rikey was trying his best to be friendly to the frail girl. She seemed to be nervous and he probably made it worse when he arrived, so he must do his best to undo any damage.

Kind eyes and a kind smile. Sahd felt herself relax if only slightly glad to know she would not be reprimanded or yelled at. She hated yelling it only brought back bad memories.

“I’m p-pleased to meet you Mr. Baltinez. The enlightenment? Oh…h-have you gotten to the philosophy of science y-yet?…I think it was Kant, but the idea we can never know reality past out own sense is interesting. In essence how we respond and interpret our senses is just a construction …ummm…sort of like…we place our h-hope into believing t-there might be more past o-our senses…but w-we can’t ever know for s-sure” She had for a brief time sounded confident, but then she had recalled someone was listening to her and she had once more become timid, and embarrassed at talking so much. She probably sounded silly for going off on such a tangent.

“I only wanted t-the Excalibur book…t-theres a loose screw o-on the ladder…I g-got caught on it….and the other books must have shook loose w-when…I fell” She admitted looking at the other books that had fallen off the shelf as well “…I’m trying to r-research g-great weapons….s-so maybe I-I can become b-better…and f-find a m-meister…” She said as she lifted a few of the books up and stacked them neatly on a cart so they could be placed back on the right shelves by the librarian. “I…I’m n-not t-the easiest w-weapon t-to wield…m-maybe I’m no good…” she admitted softly and held Excalibur’s book close to her chest as she walked beside Rikey.

Kant? Rikey hadn't reached the philosophers of the enlightenment just yet. He was focused more on the effects it had in certain areas, but it led to the frail weapon being much more talkative than before. She seemed to be a knowledgeable student who delighted herself in the hunt for information. That's a very good trait to have, but when the girl realized she was speaking so much, she retreated from the conversation a bit. Rikey looked at her as he wondered if there was something wrong to be so timid. Rikey was usually quiet in his study mode, but never nervous. That was against his teachings after all.

It seemed that the girl had low self-esteem. She was a weapon in search of a meister and yet she was here being hard on herself. Of course, Rikey didn't have a partner either, but he was sure that once he found one, the duo would become amazing and be able to take on the world.

As Rikey walked with her he, he spoke softly, "Excalibur? Indeed, I learned he was a glorious weapon to use with the ability to be wielded by anyone except that he had a list of demands that scared away any potential suitors. I personally find that boring, A hero has to climb to the top on his own skill." If you were to look at Rikey, you would see his eyes glazed over his thought of becoming a hero. It was of course his ultimate goal other than proving to his parents how good his skill were even if he was a mutant.

Looking down at Sahd, he smiled a bit wider now as he spoke, "As for you, I am positive that it is not a matter of being easy to wield. It's what you can do that matters and how you use it that matters. I am sure any meister would be lucky to have you as a partner, I know personally because, I have been here my whole life and have yet to become partnered." Rikey chuckled slightly at his misfortune. He had destroyed a bee base, gone to the circus, and has done a whole lot of crazy thing, but he never really had a partner to work with during those times. It was always temporary.

As the duo approached the table that Rikey was studying at, Rikey pulled out a chair as he bowed to Sahd. "If you do not have a seat already, may I suggest this seat right here?"

“I…I don’t t-think d-demands m-make someone stronger…b-but maybe Excalibur is so strong b-because h-he’s confident enough t-to make so many demands.” She replied then very quietly added “Maybe it’s the person who can f-fill his demands t-that’s strong…”

She gave a small smile as Rikey explained that it was not a matter of whether she was easy or not to wield. “I-I’m sure you’ll find a w-weapon that you work well with. It’s better to wait and b-become stronger t-then force a p-partnership that w-will not last”

She was uncertain how to respond as Rikey acted the gentleman and pulled a seat out for her. No one had ever done that for her. Rikey she became conscious, was likely much, much higher born then her small and isolated farm community upbringing. She took a seat a pretty blush fanning over her dark skinned cheeks.

“If it’s al-r-right with y-you…” she bowed her head, her brown hair hanging forward hiding her face somewhat. She set her book down on the table and as she reached to open it she made a very conscious effort to not let the long sleeve of her yukata pull or fall back any farther than her wrist, even then she tugged at her sleeve so that hands would be covered to the knuckle.

“I c-can be u-used as a shield, s-so most meister’s f-forget t-that I’m a w-weapon, or think I’m too young, or weak…S-some t-think I’m c-creepy…I’m w-what those already d-dead are wrapped in…and s-so wrapping me a-around themselves s-seems creepy t-to them…”

He never thought of excalibur in that way, but then again, Rikey believed in the way of the hero. "That way of thinking is a good way of thinking, but in the end I wouldn't like to say Excalibur is strong enough because he makes these demand, a hero doesn't make demands, they are there for the weak and are willing to help no matter what and heroes are the strongest there is because of this." There was naivety in what Rikey said, but a lack of a real childhood left him like that. He grew up fantasizing about being a hero and that it was the epitome of strength to him. You could even tell that in the way he spoke about heroes, that Rikey was a bit like a kid at the moment.

Sahd had accepted his invitation to sit down as she bowed her head. Rikey didn't notice the blush as he was too busy notcing her tendency to fix her clothing. rikey noted that it was a conscious thing because she fidgeted with it until it was the way she needed it to be. Perhaps something occurred to her. The only reason rikey thought of this possibility was because of his minor trauma. His parents uncaring faces momentarily appeared in his head but Rikey brushed them away. He already had his going away gift from them on his right arm and that;s all he needed to keep himself motivated.

Taking a seat next to Sahd, Rikey resumed his reading on the way the bourbon reforms worked. It happened because of the enlightenment, but it only led to more problems as the hierarchy was changed once more in New Spain. Well rikey could not continue reading more than that because Sahd had begun to speak about her weapon form. Rikey tuned an attentive ear as he continued his glance down at the book. Not making eye contact was rude, but this was a library and could be overruled in this situation.

"Well then, I don't think that's creepy. This is death city after all. Creepy would be a spider with less than 8 legs rather than a spider with 20 legs. I'd say creepy here could be considered the things that don't live up to or surpass our expectations because then we are left wondering why. If you can do what is expected, and then you can do more than that, I wouldn't call it creepy, I'd say it would be overachieving." Rikey casted a quick smile to her as he lifted his head from his book. It didn't matter if she saw him or not. "Also, being defensive and offensive is a good trait. Two sides of a coin you could say. This just means you haven't found the person whose mind is broad enough to wield you then."

Rikey closed his book on the bourbon reform at this point as he pulled another book from his stack. This book was about the greateset philosophers from the enlightenment era. Welll Rikey would be able to read about Kant now. "As for offense, what is it that you can do?" He asked as his hand pried open the book to start from the beginning.

“I can protect from all cuts, nothing like a sword or k-knife w-will tear t-through me…a-and b-bullets and other projectiles w-won’t g-go past me…so I p-prevent slash c-cut and p-pierce damage…but t-the meister c-can still f-feel impact…so c-can bruise…or b-be crushed if they’re n-not careful” She replied and flipped a page in her book. She could stop a spear or sword from impaling a meister but the meister would still need to deal with the force behind the blow, either adopting a flexible stance to absorb impacts or having a hard body able to withstand blows.

There was irony in there somewhere. Sahd could prevent scars in essence since bruises healed while slashes tended to scar yet she was covered in any number of scars.

“All the m-meister need do, is wrap me around t-them a-anyway t-they wish” she was very flexible as a cloth, some wore her like a toga, some as a cloak, she could be draped over shoulders and use her autonomy to reach out and meet specific blows.

"a-and f-for offense... w-with my m-meister's help...I can light unfire...t-the technique is called Funeral Pyre...I c-can burn t-the opponent q-quite badly" She did not much like fighting or the smell of burning flesh but would endure it if it was her meister's wish.

"That's quite handy to use." Rikey commented as his head turned back to his book. He flipped pages every minute or so as he read. He usually skimmed through books and got the gist of it. He believed it would help train his information acquisition process so he can speed up decision making based off of information he just recieved. While he read though, he imagined the possibilities of wielding a pierce protection cloth. He was a close combat fighter and using a cloth to protect himself froms swords was great. He already knew how to use momentum and how to go with a punch so he could minimize impact. Being able to net get cut would also be a great benefit.

The fire ability seemed pretty good too, but the first question that arose in Rikey's mind was whether the meister would get burned or not if they used it... but if they did, Sahd would have probably said so. So it was possible that she either didn't know or that she could protect her meister from getting burned. "I must admit." Rikey spoke out as he flipped the page to read on more of Kant's philosophy. "You're pretty versatile and since you're not heavy, I am sure you can be wielded in conjunction with other weapons?" Rikey was reffering to his own claw when he asked the question. He could definitely see wrapping the cloth around his claw to make a super speed flaming punch. That sounds really flashy too, it should have an awesome name as well. Mach 5 Flaming Sonic punch.... yeah that sounds awesome.

Rikey chuckled to himself. He wasn't much of a partner for anyone. He lacked the one thing basically all other meisters have, Soul Percept. Finishing a section on Kant, Rikey began to speak about himself. "Well, I am considered a solo meister. Most weapons don't really want to partner with a meister who doesn't have a form soul percept. Instead I can quadruple my speed and see the weak points in a person's soul that when struck, they are paralyzed. I also have my own memento from my father which I use to go on solo missions." He sighed, how long as he been here without finding a partner?
