Bianca was the first to wake up, her delicate pink-gold eyes opening blearily to stare into the still sleeping face of her twin sister, Sable. The two had been up rather late the night before, the black clad Sable spying on a gang of teens while Bianca, the one in white, brewed a potion. Now the younger of the two quietly got out of bed and checked her cauldron. The liquid had cooled overnight and changed from a thick neon yellow to a color more like apple juice. This liquid would effectively knock out the incompetent person who ran the traveling circus. "Forgot to wake me up, did you?" Bianca turned around to see her twin sister sitting up in the bed they had shared. Her black nightclothes were rumpled and her light pink hair ruffled, no doubt knotted up. Still, Bianca couldn't help but admire her older sister. She was so strong and clever, not to mention she was always there. Bianca smiled in her charming way, "I figured I'd check the potion before I disturbed your sleep, sis." "Well, I assume it's ready. Come here and let me brush your hair, it's a terrible mess." Sable grabbed the hairbrush on the bedside table and scooted forward toward the edge of the bed as Bianca sat down. When the younger twin's hair was neat Bianca moved over and brushed Sable's hair. It was the beginning of their morning ritual, which ended in the two helping each other get dressed. Bianca was the one to slip the potion into the person's glass. So engrossed was he in his magazine that he didn't notice anything. His sight must have dimmed or become blurry before his head flopped to rest his chin on his chest. After that the twins got to work, setting up the horror house tent as a house of mirrors. They were going to prove to the teen gang hanging around this town that there were some truly scary things in life. When the mirrors were set up Sable and Bianca seperated to different corners of the tent. The hallways of mirrors wero so narrow that one could barely walk through them without touching one of the glass surfaces. This was on purpose, there was more of a chance of the teenagers being easily drawn into the mirror world. Edited by Wildshadow, Feb 2 2010, 05:06 AM.

The teens had slept in, as always. Only Arnold was up at dawn, in order to get all of his chores on the farm finished so that he could have the day free to go to the fair with his friends. “I don’t know why you’re friends with them... They don’t like you” Teased his sister. Arnold shrugged it off and as always, ignored her. The other teens were far too lazy to do work around their places, and variously lived in more rural settings. They had all agreed to meet at the park, and as each had his or her own bike, they raced there at around 11. Tittering and laughing amongst themselves, a few made jokes at Arnold’s expense, but most of the group were more interested in getting to the house of horror. They were so sure none of them would be frightened by a poxy little fairground ride, that they’d quite puffed themselves up. Arnold on the other hand was silent. His face was white, and it was obvious he was actually afraid of the thought of going in. He had no wish to be scared in a funhouse ride, but if he didn’t go in he’d never win the group’s acceptance, and his schooldays would be filled with a different sort of horror. Quickly buying tickets, the teens were pleased to see that there was little to no line up. They were, however, disappointed on seeing what was inside. One kid cried out in anger, and lashed out at one of the mirrors, breaking it into pieces. Arnold smiled though, he was glad that it turned out just to be a house of mirrors. It was still creepy, but nothing like as horrible as a ride with monsters and demons. |

The group of teenagers walked into the newly remade horror house. Quite a few of them cried out in what was obviously not terror, and one even punched one of the mirrors. Neither twin could tell if a shard of glass had stuck itself in the teen's fist, but Sable thought she could smell the tang of blood. Bianca waited for her sister's plan, hopping from one foot to the other in a corner of the tent that wouldn't reflect her image. Then the silent command came. "Wait until they get a little further in, so it's harder to run. Then we step out." Bianca nodded, even though her sister couldn't see her. The gang of teens wouldn't be able to see it, but the mirror corridors were set up so that from their positions, Sable and Bianca couldn't be seen. One step forward, however, and every single mirror in the place would show their image, both beside the other even though they were on seperate sides of the tent. A few more minutes and the teenagers were in a good position. "Three, two, one..." Sable and Bianca stepped out of their corners at the exact same time, perfectly coordinated. All around the teenagers was their image, seeming to have their palms touching. It was very eerie, especially with their smiles. "So, you think you can't be scared?" Sable yelled out, her voice bouncing off the reflective glass. "We're going to show you differently." Bianca said, not quite as loud, but still loud enough to be heard. The twins raised their arms, reciting their first spell, "Blowing glass and carving wood." "Doow gnivrac dna ssalg gniwolb." A faint glow entered the the tent as a black and white mirror frame was etched on the ground. The frame this time was simple, a square affair, white on the inside, black outside. The teenagers wouldn't be able to see the frame itself, but the glow was enough to tip them off to something going freaky. Next Sable and Bianca took another step forward, moving inside the mirror frame. Again their chant was perfectly timed, Sable reciting it in reverse while Bianca recited it the regular way. "Mirror mirror on the wall, into your world all will fall." "Llaf lliw lla dlrow ruoy otni, llaw eht no rorrim rorrim." The teens should experience a falling sensation as the ground appeared to collapse underneath them. The mirrors disappeared and all of them fell through first a white surrounding and then a black one. The Black slowly merged into a greyish color as all the people, Sable and Bianca included, landed on a black landscape. A few pale creatures of undefineable origin fled from the newcomers, all seeming to carry a type of fruit in their mouths or hands. Sable and Bianca, still out of sight, ran around the hill the teenagers were on, both giggling, elated to be back in the Mirror World. Their next task was to find one of their friends to use to trick the stupid human teenagers. The twins ran off toward the horizon, hand-in-hand, racing toward the meeting place they'd set up. There they met the lucky Mirror People who would be getting out this day. |

“I am Mr. Susan, guardian of the mirrors, what do you seek, stranger?” One of the teens was dancing around in an ungainly fashion in mimicry of something he had seen on television, while the others in the group who had watched the same program chortled and laughed at the joke. “Mirror world? More like a small room isn’t it?” Said another, and the laughing redoubled, that is until the group was suddenly assailed by images of little girls. On a closer glance, not all of the girls were the same, some wore white, while others wore black. One of the teens guffawed obnoxiously, talking over the top of Sable’s shout. “Oh damn, is this all they have? My chickens wouldn’t even be scared of this, and they think my shoelaces are snakes.” Chortled one, not particularly bright boy. The glow however drew a few unimpressed, sarcastic ‘ooooh’s but largely the teens were trying to show off to each other and display exactly how uninterested they were in ‘crappy cheap special effects’. Arnold, however, shouted with fright, as he hadn’t expected to be jumped out at, and one of the others pushed him roughly, clearly out casting him as a coward. That was when they were transported to another place entirely. The laughter slowly died away as the teens realised that perhaps the special effects were something to marvel at after all. “HA HA HA this is soooo realistic, duh this is crap guys what the hell? Who’d fall for this anyway?” The other teens glared at their oafish peer. The self appointed leader of the group was nodding appreciatively. Because he was the leader, he had to make a snap judgement and be in possession of all the facts. If he voiced his opinion others would immediately follow, but if he didn’t then just anyone would think themselves allowed to chip in their two cents. “Yo shutup dude, this isn’t half bad, this is like super high tech... yeah I heard about this right, like it’s all these like, three d stuff like projectors n’shit, but it’s like too hard core and so it’s being tested, like trial run in like... small towns like ours... We’ve like, totally hit the jack pot man!” He didn’t actually know much what he was talking about, but even as he spoke he convinced himself something he’d half read on the internet was true, which lent credibility to his claim. Arnold, however had bent to touch the ground, and was looking anxiously around. “I don’t think... I don’t think this is a trick?” His voice was so small and unsure that no one listened, as they were too busy congratulating the leader and expressing how excited they were to be in the hologram test, and how ‘wicked-awesome’ the special effects were. At the meeting place there was a host of mostly human-shaped Mirror Beings. Sable and Bianca recalled the teenagers, trying to decide who to use first. Perhaps a slightly seductive older woman? Then again a beast might also be useful. In the end the twins chose a large rabbit. They instructed the others to carry their bodies to the town if the other-siders came near. Then the two sisters gave each other a hug, because they wouldn't be able to have any contact the entire time they were out of their bodies. "We go for the leader, right?" "Yup. If the plan changes I'll tell your shadow." "I wish we didn't have to be so far apart, though." "So do I, sis, so do I." Sable and Bianca parted, The older of the two reciting her spell first. "Wodahs srorrim eht lortnoc I." With that her shadow disconnected from her body, soul going with it. Sable's body collapsed into her sister's arms. The nearly invisible black shadow glided away over the ground toward where the teenagers were last. Bianca layed her sister's body down gently, making sure her protector knew exactly what to do. Once she was sure of her sister's safety, Bianca sait her own incantation. "Ydob srorrim eth lortnoc I." Her soul left her body and traveled the short distance to the rabbit's body, lodging itself in the chest area. The pale white rabbit seemed to blink its onyx eyes in surprise. The Mirror Being had been told that the first time always felt odd. It was almost as if his control was being pushed to the dark avacado-like fruit that he carried by the stem. His body then moved of its own accord, no doubt Bianca was moving his limbs. The unnamed rabbit had a moment of terror, afraid that the girl had forgotten about his fruit. But it turned out that she was only getting used to his bulky body; he was the size of a bear, after all. Once used to the large body Bianca had the rabbit, which she decided to call Harvey, dip its head and gently pick up the fruit. It was a little tricky at first, keeping ahold of the fruit without cutting through the stem, but Bianca soon got the hang of it. Fortunately before she got to the group of teenagers. Sable, her soul in her shadow, crept across the black ground, sensing the prickly texture as though it were covered with newly mown grass. She flew quickly across the ground, hardly visible as black on black. The experience was always something unique. Since a shadow can't exactly see or hear, it was more like Sable sensed the things around her. It came to her as raw information, like she was reading a book. When she finally reached the group of teens she had a decision to make. The witch could either enter the teenagers' minds individually and find out what they were thinking, or she could 'listen' to what they were saying. Sable chose the second, at least until her sister got to the scene. So Sable stayed still, her shadow flat on the ground, sensing the teenagers cooing like pigeons about special effects or something. The girl wanted to laugh! And then she felt the thumping on the ground. Bianca, in the body of Harvey, was hopping slowly toward the hill where the teenagers were standing. She smiled to herself, thinking of how surprised they were going to be. After all, it wasn't every day you saw a large, bear-sized, pure white rabbit hopping toward you, with large black eyes that looked like stones in its head. Even stranger was the fruit it carried in its mouth, as gingerly as if it were a kitten. Bianca had the large body stop a few feet from the group of teenagers, gently placing the fruit down between the large white paws. Bianca noticed Sable's shadow on the other side of the group of teenagers. She decided to maybe calm the other-siders by doing something very rabbity. She had Harvey pull down one of his ears and start washing it, wobbling the nose quite a bit. She was waiting for the reaction, as well as Sable to tell her which one was the leader.

The teens gaped as a small bunny in the distance slowly became larger and large and larger. It covered a surprising distance with its hops, and despite being a rabbit (something that each of the boys fairly regularly hunted) the sheer size of the thing was incredibly intimidating. Looking up at the twitchy nose, from below, the sharp front, rodent teeth were visible, and they were frighteningly large. The teens stood, slightly shocked but not yet intimidated, thinking it was still only some awesome graphics, or a hologram, or some kind of virtual reality. The only one who seemed actually frightened was Arnold, who was slowly becoming more and more sure that the things they were experiencing weren't an illusion. "guys?" he whimpered, backing away to stand with the group between him and the rabbit. The leader of the group, however, walked up to the rabbit with an arrogant air of incaution, as if to show how unafraid he was of the technology. He wasn't going to be shown up as some kind of back-country bumpkin. He peered at the rabbit from close up before looking at the fruit it dropped. Assuming that it was all part of some kind of computer program he cautiously bent to pick up the fruit. Arnold shouted in alarm, and with a sudden burst of bravery barrelled into the leader, knocking him away from the fruit. The leader was too shocked for words, but after a pause raised his fist threateningly and snarled at Arnold, about to beat the boy senseless. Arnold crouched defensively already trying to explain himself, "Don't you see? How can this be false if the ground is different? if you can touch it, and feel it, what's to stop other things in here making you feel, maybe even hurting you? This isn't hologram guys! We have to get out!" his voice was shrill with panic, and slowly the leader lowered his fist. Instead he grabbed a hold of Arnold's shirt collar, and a number of his cronies came forwards and grabbed the unfortunate boy's arms as well. "That's bullshit Arnold... hey guys, I think what Arnold really wants is to try the fruit himself? Don't you?" There was general consensus from the others that Arnold really did want to try the fruit, and with an evil grin, the leader decided to force his compatriot to eat the fruit, and be shown to everyone in the group as an idiot when it turned out to be a hologram or something similar. He would be proven a coward, and could then be shunned from the group completely. Arnold for his part struggled fiercely, with eyes that were wide with horror, shouting something about getting away. The leader got out his flick knife, and bent to pick up the fruit, planning to carve off a piece that was of edible size, which he could shove down the other boy's mouth.

At least one of the boys realized that the Mirror World wasn't an illousion. Bianca had harvey blink his eyes a few times, gazing around at the beautiful world. Right now they were on the Black Hills, which were covered in what appeared to be short-cropped black grass. To the north the hills flattened out and slowly turned to black sand, making a beach with black water. To the south there was a town with tall black buildings and black roads. In these buildings was where most of the human-shaped Mirror Beings resided. In the middle of the town was a courtyard surrounding a large black tree. The tree was bare of foleiage, but on its dark black branches grew a few white flower buds. Every one was a different shape for a different fruit. Further south of the town were more hills, which mirrored those on this side of the town. To the east and west were plains with thick black gorse and short growth plants, all very thick yes seeming somehow dead. Every cardinal direction led to the same black beach with the black water. Sable saw the gang fighting over who was afraid and another plan came to mind. Bianca would trick the underlings into eating the fruit and when they were killed it would be because they were 'cowards'. The older sister moved her shadow over to that of the large rabbit her sister had taken control of. The older twin took control of the rabbit's shadow and passed the general idea to Bianca. The younger sister understood and developed on the idea. She had Harvey lower his head over his fruit, blocking the knife from reaching it. The head was turnrd to the side so the children were staring into one of the huge, dark black eyes. A crazy idea came to Bianca's mind and she twitched the nose up and down as though sniffing the air. "I smell a coward!" She had the rabbit rumble in its deep voice. "Bring him forward. This human must eat my fruit. If he is indeed a coward then I will deal with him, if not then he is free to return to his own world." Bianca had Harvey's eye move to rest his line of vision quite obviously on the only smart teen in the group, despite his lack of pupils. Sable quickly seperated her shadow from the rabbit's and scooted over to that of the kid in question. Her idea was to try and give him a little courage so the others didn't have to shove the fruit in his mouth. Take the fruit, eat it. Nothing bad's gonna' happen. She kept repeating the lie, but of course it was possible that the teenager was already so frightened that he wouldn't listen to any persuasion. Bianca had Harvey push his avacado slightly toward the kid, staring at him. For a moment it must have seemed very surreal. |

Take the fruit, eat it. Nothing bad's gonna' happen. Arnold's chest heaved as he hyperventilated with distress. Something was talking to him, like he was going to trust a creepy voice that whispered right into his mind. He twisted reluctantly in the grasp of the other boys, still trying to make everyone see the folly of their ways. "I'm not a coward! Can't you see this is all wrong?" The two girls in the group seemed to be growing uneasy, and one clung to the leader's arm, whispering something about just letting the poor kid go. The leader was busy leering in Arnold's direction, enjoying the show. With a small amount of irritation he shook the girl off and told her to shut up, Arnold needed to man it up. Arnold was thrown onto the ground in front of the avocado, and the leader put a foot on his back to prevent him from rising. "Alright, now eat the damned fruit Arnold... You'll see there aint nothing wrong with it." Arnold swallowed the reply that 'there aint nothing wrong with it' was a double negative. Arnold wasn't a coward, and he wasn't stupid. He could tell that something awful would happen to whoever ate the fruit, even if his classmates couldn't. He briefly considered telling the leader to eat the fruit himself. It would be possible to fool the other boy into doing the deed, but Arnold wouldn't be able to live with himself if he caused someone else to get hurt or in any way damaged. He was brave enough to take whatever was going to come of eating the fruit. With tears streaming down his face, as he thought of his sister and family, and his home, and pets, Arnold took a bite of the avocado, making a face. He had always hated avocado, with its bland taste and slimy texture. Having taken a bite out, chewed it thoroughly and swallowed, he was hauled back to his feet and clapped on the back by the leader. "There, see? Not so bad after all was it?" With a rough gesture, the leader grabbed the remainder of the fruit. "Now let me have a try you hog, this is the food of the future!" and with that the leader raised the fruit to his mouth, ready to take a massive bite of it.

Harvey's black eyes widened as the leader of the group also took a bite of the fruit. Neither the twins nor the Mirror Being knew what would happen if more than one Other Sider ate a single fruit, but the feeling was bad. The large rabbit was frozen in his crouching position, Bianca's soul having already begun its exit. Then the dark avacado burst into a surprisingly hot black flame, letting off huge clouds of white smoke that were nowhere near proportional. It was a bad sign, and Bianca evacuated the body as fast as possible. She was just in time, too. The large white rabbit began twitching, then collapsed and started rolling around on the ground, thrashing in extreme pain. His eyes rolled to the back of their sockets and slowly started to bleed a gray liquid much the same consistency as blood. The Mirror Being continued thrashing, forcing the teenagers to either jump away from him or be crushed. Harvey's mouth opened in a silent scream, more of the gray liquid bubbling up from his lungs. The large white back arched, and suddenly he stopped moving all together. The flesh seemed to turn into goo and fall away from the bleached white bones, disappearing into the ground, much like the gore in a video game. The bones stood tall and white against the black surroundings. While the origional fruit and Being were dying, the fruit that had been eaten was slowly smouldering. The soft green flesh began heating up, before it too burst into extremely hot black flames. The smoke produced was less than the other fruit, but it still smoked quite a lot. Eventually the flames would begin devouring the flesh of the two teenagers, causing immense pain. Their fate would be the same as the giant rabbit, though probably less alien and amazing. While all this was happening Sable had her soul slowly drift back in the direction she had come in Harvey's body. It was a much slower way to travel, but it couldn't be helped. While on the move she thought of what type of body she would use next. Another animal might be useful, but then the gang might trust a humanoid more. While Bianca was on the move sable had her shadow flit around the rest of the gang, giving all of them a vague idea of sticking together. After all, it wouldn't do to have them spread all over the place. While the older witch was busy trying to bolster the confidence of the gang, the younger had found her next puppet. It was a large squirrel. Not as large as Harvey had been, but roughly double the size of a regular squirrel. This beast was also pure white, except for its onyx-colored eyes. Bianca waited for Sable's information on the group before she set off in the squirrel she dubbed Foamy. |

The group of teens drew back, startled, as Harvey died in a painful and drawn out kind of way. They had been completely stunned into silence, and Arnold found himself free to stand. "See?!" he shrieked hysterically. The leader turned a sarcastic gaze on the other teen, still keen to believe he was in a computer game. "Don't be an idiot, he just died like in a computer gam-agghh" Both Arnold and the leader doubled over, almost simultaneously, clutching at their bellies. One of the girls rushed over to hold onto the leader's arm, stammering questions at him, asking if he was ok. An almost imperceptible black fire was creeping over the skin of the two boys, growing from their stomach area, and slowly advancing. Behind it the skin was blackened and burned in the most horrible fashion. Clearly in pain the two dropped to the ground, writhing and screaming with the agony of being slowly burned to death from the inside out. the other teens all seemed to be creeping back in horror, distancing themselves from the danger area. It took a surprisingly long time for Arnold and the leader to die, as their whimpering cries lasted for a long time, until finally their faces and heads caught alight, and their shrivelled blackened corpses fell silent. Still silent with fear and horror, the other teens seemed to have no idea on what to do. after a minute or so, one of the teens chuckled nervously. "I- I guess they lost the game huh?" there seemed to be a general sigh of relief from the others. Their friend hadn't just died horribly in front of them, he'd just lost the game. It could all be explained away. Of course it still left an awkward, uneasy feeling in the pits of their stomachs, but it was supposed to be a horror game after all, right? "Maybe we should move on? Find like... a village where we learn what we're supposed to do or something?" one of the others suggested. Without a leader, all decisions were made with great caution and no one seemed quite sure who filled in the gap now that the group was without a leader. Walking in a n arbitrary direction, the teens talked amongst themselves, wondering how Arnold and the leader had lost the game. It was clearly the fruit that had done it, but why? were they not supposed to have both eaten it? Helped along by someone unseen, they came to the conclusion that it was only supposed to be one fruit per person. They were just deciding who would eat the next fruit when an over-large squirrel appeared. By the time they were once again approached, the teens were not quite as shocked and scared, and one or two were eager to see if they would get special powers from eating the fruit. It was for this reason that the largest and most powerful bags'd himself the right to the next piece of fruit. Boldly he approached the squirrel, looking about for it's fruit, and licking his lips in nervous anticipation. |
