Hearing Will's response, the red headed weapon felt a weight that she hadn't really been aware that she was carrying lift off her shoulders. She hadn't really been expecting Will to be upset, well not much anyway, but she was rubbish at predicting people's reactions to things and she knew it. Plus she was rather big on loyalty and couldn't help but feel a bit guilty about 'ditching' Will for Rosario. Will's reaction pretty much got rid of that, polite approval of the 'I'm happy for you' variety wouldn't have done anything as judging sincerity wasn't one of Deira's strong points either and she had a tendency to doubt it, but even she could tell that the rather exuberant response was genuine. Relieved that their proto-friendship was still on, she stopped attacking her thumbnail and smiled. "Yeah, why not."

It was the work of a moment for Will to go to his room, get a bag and make sure he had his wallet, which was leather and sported a picture of the moon on one side and the sun on another. He made a note up saying:
which he stuck onto his bowl of food stuffs and placed on the middle of his bed. 'I suppose the brownie must go everywhere in the house... and I can always move it into the hall if it's still there when I get back.' The air outside was cold, but refreshing. Will walked alongside Deira, asking about her new partner and life in general since the prac test. He mentioned his anxiety about getting his marks back, and ventured to ask if Deira knew much about that. By the time the two weapons were approaching the coffee shop, will had gotten around to missions. "I once had a mission," he laughed, "where A man was swearing he saw monsters outside his bedroom window, but it turned out that his wife had found out he was cheating on her, so whenever his mistress came over, she would fly monster silhouettes across the window, and stamp up an down on the roof. I had to find this out by posing as the mistress... well you can guess how that went..." Will sighed. It was the satisfied sigh of someone who needed a good breath of air after laughing too hard. "anyway... I don't often go on solo missions any more. Sometimes one crops up that needs my expertise, well someone with a disability anyway, but mostly I end up assisting meisters on their first missions and teaching them the ropes and whatnot. How are you on the mission front? done any solo recently? Have you gone on a mission with your new meister yet?" Will kept the tone light, not wanting to make Deira feel guilty, but being genuinely interested in what she was doing as a weapon.

It took a moment for her to stop sniggering (the anecdote that Will had mentioned had conjured up the image of him in a suitably mistress-y dress), but eventually Deira got a grip on herself and answered. "Nope, not yet. Rosario, that's her name by the way, had a lot of catching up to do with her school work, plus it seemed a good idea to get some practice in before we went on a mission. I went on a solo mission before the exam, just an investigative mission really, not much in the way of combat, but some of the stuff I found out was pretty twisted. There was an old orphanage that had a lab in the basement, they used to experiment on the kids who lived there and...well, I'll spare you the details. Also, someone tried to kill me, but I suppose that's par for the course in our line of work." All this was said in a casual, matter-of-fact way that may well have been somewhat disturbing to an outsider. By now they'd reached to coffee shop and entered. Examining the menu, Deira took one look at the prices and almost choked on her chewing gum. "Over a fiver for a cup of coffee, are they having a laugh ?"

Will seemed mildly surprised at what Deira had to say, "Really? that sounds like a weird mission! I didn't think they usually sent people on solo missions like that, it's not like you can wield yourself after all." Will shook his head slightly at the thought of it. 'that's just not cricket' "I think once someone tried to kill me too, but they were just so terrible at it they ended up helping me instead. They thought they had trapped me in with a dragon or something, but it turned out to be the secret treasure trove I had been looking for the whole time. There was a dragon in there though..." Will smiled at Deira's exclamation about the coffee. It was true, the boiled water soaked with coffee bean was hardly anything worth dancing over, in fact it was even less than an inferior cup of joe, but that's not what he was here for. In one of the glass windows, gleaming like the philosophers' entirely speculatory mountain of gold, was a stack of fresh made sausage rolls. The shop was in what might have been called the high end of Shibusen, if the town hadn't been so dissimilar and yet repetitive to begin with. The main point of attraction was that it had been situated cunningly next the park, a popular leisure spot for children. This made it a good meeting point for overstressed parents, who would do or pay just about anything for peace of mind, relief from the kids, and a cup of coffee that someone else had made for them. The shop, however, was aware that students were poor. To this end they had the sausage rolls, an ever popular draw to hungry youngsters. The sausage rolls were massive in size, golden on the outside, and the inside was just as good, when you were hungry. Most importantly however, each roll was only $1.25, and came with a free sachet of either tomato or barbecue sauce. Will ordered two, handed over the cash, and turned back to Deira while he waited for the shop assistant to wrap each in a paper bag for him. "This is why I come here. Sausage roll is what I usually have for lunch now." he paused slightly, "oh, you aren't a vegetarian are you?" Edited by Imp of Chaos, May 7 2009, 09:52 PM.

"Nope. For one thing life without bacon wouldn't be worth living." She paused and frowned slightly. "Hmm, come to think of it I doubt that a veggie weapon would work, given the requirements of the job it seems like it'd be a contradiction in terms." She shrugged. "You must be pretty hungry. Did you skip lunch or something?" "No, why?" "Well those things are pretty big and you ordered two. I eat like a horse but even I'd have trouble eating two of them, unless I was really hungry." A moment after the words were out of her mouth she realised that they could be interpreted as an insult, although she wasn't sure why someone would do so. It was just an observation. "I'm not calling you a pig or anything, I'm just waffling on."

Will couldn't help an incredulous grin that spread across his face. He shook his head, "No one of them is for you... I can't invite you to dinner/lunch and fail to get you something to eat. At the same time though, everything else around here is far too expensive, so your choices were sausage roll, or sausage roll." He laughed at the idea that Deira had assumed both sausage rolls were for him. "what sauce do you prefer? Tomato or barbecue?" The shop assistant had reappeared over the counter with two white paper bags. They seemed uninterested in their customers to a large degree, and completely ignored Will and Deira in favour of texting someone on their phone. Will grabbed the appropriate sauces, hoping against hope they hadn't switched the baskets holding the sauces around again. More often than not he ended up with the wrong sauce. Taking the paper bagged goodies, he thanked the shop assistant briefly and handed Deira her sauce and sausage roll. "here, I hope this is right. Do you want to eat here or in the park? The park has swings..." Will tried not to look too hopeful about the swings, he dared not even mention the seesaw. Childish tendencies aside, Will felt glad he had made a new friend in Death City. Rosario put the final pieces of muffin into her mouth and swallowed them with a swing of cappacino. Yum... She pushed her long hair behind her shoulder and looked around the store. People seemed to have cleared out some and the man who had charged her 10.25 for her snack had disappeared. Turning her head as someone walked into the store, her eyes widened as she recognized her new partner, Deira! The red head still hadn't noticed her as she and a white haired boy, who Rose didn't recognize, went up and bought two sausage rolls. As they seemed to be cotemplating whether to stay or not, Rose stood up, shouldering her guitar and walked over to the pair. "Long time no see, Deira," Rosario said cheerfully.

At the same time though, everything else around here is far too expensive, so your choices were sausage roll, or sausage roll." Deira felt a bit of a twit, although in her defense she was pretty new to the whole socializing thing. She understood the general idea, she just had trouble with some of the details. This was a prime example. She'd never been invited out to dinner before so she didn't know how it would work. She'd only ever eaten out on her own or with family. If she'd been with her parents then they'd paid, if it was just her and her siblings then they'd each pay for their own. The idea that someone she wasn't related to would buy her dinner honestly had never occured to her. "Hmm, do I have to pay him back? I suppose I do, but do I just give him the money or what?" Shrugging, she decided to work it out later. "What sauce do you prefer? Tomato or barbecue?" "Um, tomato please." Sausage rolls and sauce obtained, they were about to leave (Will mentioning something about swings), when she heard a familar voice. "Long time no see, Deira." Momentarily startled, she quickly recovered and turned around. "Not that long, Rosario. Besides, we weren't supposed to meet up until tommorow. How are you doing?" |

"I'm doing fine, and the fact that I'm here is pure coincidence." Rose pushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear and smiled. "I'm glad to see you again." she turned and looked at Will. "Who's this? You're boyfriend?" |

Deira snorted. "Nah, just a boy who's my friend. Rosario, this is Will. Will, this is my meister Rosario." |
