The Madness of Love

Shugorei stood there in deep thought as the evidence seemed to compile itself in his head. The ring, the cause of death, the noises, the soul staying behind. All of this was weird. Sighing, he walked over to a window and exhaled onto it. Writing down shinigami's number he waited for the grim reaper him self to appear. Without even waiting for a hello he just started in. "Shinigami-sama. Amie and I have investigated the scene of the crime and will be turning in now." He let a few moments pass before continuing sure someone was bound to object or have some comment. "We will however be returning tonight to take up night watch and follow our most valuable and leading clue. It seems every time this killer appears their is an loud sound coming from there. We will use that noise to find him and take care of it as soon as possible instead of running around labs trying to find a fingerprint match." |

Amie watched from behind as Shugo conversed with Shinigami-sama. So they were gonna wait to see if anything happened? Alright, I guess, she thought. She walked up to him as he finished talking. "So if were gonna stay, who exactley are you planning on asking to draw out the killer?" Amie asked, not many people would willingly become bait for a serial killer.

With his number written on a suitably reflective surface, thin, glowing blue waves began to reflect, refract and diffract across the window, before resolving into the familiar form of the ‘principle’ of Shibusen. "Shinigami-sama. Amie and I have investigated the scene of the crime and will be turning in now." The mask distorted slightly, with the eyeholes partially covered up by turned down ‘eyebrows’. Unable to politely but in as the pupil began another speech, Shinigami waited until the boy was clearly done, before tiliting his head to the side, and speaking to the new pair in his childish voice began, “YoiIIIiii Shugorei-kun, Amie-chaAan… Be careful. Remember that you’re to protect, not to offer easy victims for whatever is there…” The head tilted back to verticle, and his voice rose slightly higher in pitch. A hand unrolled, before forming the classical ‘v for victory’ pose. ”Good Luck!”

Shugorei simply nodded. "Of course Shinigami-sama." He turned from the window so Amie could have a chance to talk to the grim one. Somehow he had a feling she wanted to talk to him. It was just something that crept into his mind. Reaching into his quiver he pulled out a Itsunonashini Granola Bar and unwrapped it. Looking at the area, he noticed the buildings had a certain kilter to them that would really reflect loud sounds. The street was cobbled, meaning it wasn't a heavy vehicle traffic area. It would probably be best to post position on the rooftop. Ontop of that, Shinigami was right. It was thier job to protect, not offer lambs for slaughter. With this new condition on the plan, he had to revise. Certainly there were meisters and weapons who could handle themselves if confronted, but this mission was handed to them and not something that one should go asking for help on. If if the original plot was to throw an annoyance on the street and wait till he was attacked. Perhaps this difficulty could make thier job a little safer. He would offer himself up as the target, but he had to make sure that he was the only one. Turning to the ladies he walked back over and talked softly but loud enough they could hear. "Ma'am. I could use one bit of help in this investigation. Could you let everyone in the area know not to walk the street tonight under any circumstances?"

Amie grinned sheepishly, of course they shouldn't use someone as bait, that wouldn't be nice. "Hai, Shinigami-sama, no one will be used as bait. We'll think of another way!" she said smiling as the head of Shibusen disappeared. She turned and stared at the buildings surrounding them. Someone had terrorized the poor people of this town and killed innocent souls. This alone was unforgivable, but the fact that the soul hadn't been touched had to mean something, right? Why would a human be killed and the soul not taken. Clenching Melon in her left arm, Amie ran up and grabbed onto Shugo's arm with her right just as he finished asking the old ladies to keep everyone off the street. She nodded as they complied to do their best. "So, we'll figure something out, right Shu-kun? Until then we need to find a place to stay until nightfall, let's go." Though she was smling on the outside, Amie was feeling sad on the inside. She hated death and the fact that the person had been getting away with it for a while now, was scaring her. How on earth were they gonna stop him? |

The appant leader of the ladies smiled, and slowly nodded for a good ten seconds. Her nodding requirements for the day filled, the turned about and made shooing motions with her hands at the other folk about. With some reluctance, the street began to empty as people made sure to get ready before night fell and the danger surfaced. After a few minutes, the last figure had turned a corner, or entered a door and only four figures remained in view. The hankerchief wearing woman hobbled over to Clarise, but before she touched her, she bent a little towards Shugo, and continued to studiously ignore the pink haired girl who vied for Shugo’s attention. “Everyone on these streets should be happy to let you into their house so you can spy from the roof-tops, or hide in a window, or set up a sniper-rifle or whatever you craaAAazy kids do. Most of the street knows your face, and by night-time word will have spread to everyone else hopefully.” Although she had promised anyone would be happy to let them into their house, once the houses that were being repaired, and houses full of babies, or people too scared to let trained killers into their homes, only three houses remained. One, at the corner of the two streets was a two-storey affair, and in the true Death City style leant crazily over the road, almost as if it was falling in very slow motion. The plasterboard was white, with thick black wooden beams criss-crossed across the outside and inside alike. Inside, a friendly, intellectual lady was forever ready to offer the children hot tea or coffee, and whenever the pair walked by, would kindly call out her offer. The rooftop and spare bedroom window of the second had a clear view of the whole of Die street, but thanks to a large tree, most of Now Avenue was densely hidden, except for the sharp corner where the two lanes met. It was however, mercilessly empty of any occupants. The final option for the recently paired team was a single-story house situated on Die Street also, but near the corner and offered views of both streets at ground level, but due to faulty tiles, it was advised they not sit on the roof. The entrance to the house was warm, had many windows, and could be exited quietly if they needed to sneak, but was still close enough so they could rush out if needed. The owner was a fairly grouchy man who clearly didn’t want the kids about, but was willing to let them in for the sake of peace. |
