Guess you have been gone a long time, seriously any trip back east (we do it every other summer) we look forward to the drive through PA because the RV stops rattling. Ohio isn't too bad, but Illinois and Indiana are really rough. This summer on the trip up to Alaska Colorado's roads were the second worst, Alaska takes the prize for the worst, but they have perma frost to deal with and Colorado doesn't. |

A wish-list for Obama!?!? Where to start... 1. Transportation. It would kill three birds with one stone: deal with infrastructure AND energy consumption AND job creation all at the same time by creating a more viable mass-transit system, improving rural roads and interstate highways, and kick-starting the research and development that will be needed to reduce our dependence upon fossil fuels. 2. Education The number of schools in this country that are underfunded, under-staffed, under-equipped, and under-utilized is mind boggling. Screw testing, screw evaluation, and focus on the actual resources themselves that these schools, teachers, and students are lacking. Once they have all of the proper tools, THEN evaluations and testing can begin. 3. Electric grid Rebuilding the electric grid would, like dealing with transportation, kill several birds with one stone. It would create jobs, help strengthen our national infrastructure, and address directly how and why we use however much energy we use. 4. Domestic production of goods and services Stop sending jobs overseas! Put restrictions and penalties on companies who shaft their American workers by sending their jobs to countries where people will work for less money and fewer (if any) benefits. Increase domestic aid to farmers, manufacturers, and service providers and give them a fighting chance in this marketplace. 5. Keep up the weekly addresses! The best way to engage the American people and encourage them to work for their own benefit is to instruct and urge and push them. If Obama can continue to participate in some sort of dialogue with the American people, if he really *can* lead by example, then I think it's possible for the state of this union to improve. |

Heh. Yeah, because "conservatives" have really done great things for this country over the last 40 years. I'm curious, though... what the hell is a *real* conservative? Has there been such a person in the government in recent years? |

I wish the 'conservatives' would get back to being fiscal conservatives, instead of merely social conservatives... |

I love how they support someone to the hilt then label them a RINO and beg off all responsibility when they screw it up. That the new Republican party- take no responsibility for anything at anytime. I at least have confidence that Obama will not make things worse. I believe an investment in our country's infrastructure is necessary after years of neglect and the infusion of jobs is much more beneficial than just paying unemployment or welfare benefits. improvements to bridges, roads, transmission lines, railroads, schools, all these are desperately needed and will benefit citizens every single day. That's what we need to be focused on right now. |
