I think it's a form of: "Build it, and they will Kum?"

I don't care if they're giving away gas for free...As I've said before, I'm not spending one dime at K&G or any other business that opens up in that center...

As the economy slows I wonder how we will fill all this new space up here. I'm afraid we'll have a bunch of ghost town shopping centers. I doubt the developers will drop the lease prices.

I was thinking the same... If the lease rates are more reasonable than the KS and Safeway centers, it may get some takers, but it is hard to imagine it filling up at this point.

Every time I go to the Safeway center I see another closed store. The Kings center hasn't opened anything new in a while and the old Aspen Park center is stagnant too. Lowering the rates doesn't seem to be an option.

We have an entire shopping center the size of Colorado Mills (or larger even) west of Phoenix that is entirely empty. It was only completed about a year ago. It's only a matter of time before vandals and weather turn it into a trash heap. That's going to really help the economy and house values here.

I thought this kind of thing was why we had planning and zoning boards.

somebody makes money to put these developments in place, then the communities are stuck with "ghost towns" as you said...
