We just got a pellet stove for free and after some clean up, tuning a tweaking, we have her up and running.
Since we are new to this type of heating, any advice anyone has as to what kind of pellets to use would be greatly appreciated.
I like the idea of using the beetle kill pellets as it gives good incentive to get those trees down and harvested.
Any thoughts?

Becky, did you get an "owner's manual" with the stove? If not, try to find it online or go to the Inglenook store in Aspen Park but you need to find the type of pellets that are recommended for your stove.

They come in different lengths (the pellets themselves) and there are just so many factors that it's just worth checking it out. If you use the wrong "type" you could have problems.

We didn't know either and the stupid stove got all clogged up and we had all sorts of problems and finally, wrote down the name and went to Inglenook and they told us the type of pellet that we should use and much more information. Talk to Brett if you go, he's very nice and really helpful.

Edited to add: You are SOOO right about Heartland Mtnman - we haven't had good luck with them either. Alot of ash to clean.

Different stoves do better with different pellets. I can't use the Eurekas that they sell at King Soopers. I like the Heat'rs they sell at Hutchinson or Home Depot, but they do have a lot of ash.
