What does purchasing a new car for cash have to do with depreciating value? Your post made no sense.

And it is not just the American cars that depreciate.... it has been widely know for as long as I can remember if you buy a car that is a year or two old, low mileage, it is the best deal around. Problem is you can not get longer term financing on a used car. Thus, higher payments.

This has been the case since the beginning of car financing. People have been upside down on cars for decades. If you drive more than 12k miles a year, leasing is not the answer, you can get even further behind that way.

Don't act like this is something new..... and stop acting like this is a domestic car problem. Jeeesh!
My point was: if someone is going to purcahse a new car today, they should only consider the purchase with cash. Of course, I wouldn't purchase a new car if you took 10% off...it's still going to depreciate 20% - 25% in the next two years.

I would only purchase a used car that is 2 years old - it will still depreciate but not at the rate of the initial years. Really - someone would have to be stupid to purchase a new car and then finance it at any percentage rates. Zero APR - maybe ...if you are willing to take the depreciated hit of several thousands dollars....

Leasing a car is wise if you know how many miles you will drive. I drove a lease car for 36 months hedge with 20K miles per year. I didn't pay anything over the lease payment and drove a new car and then handed it back to the dealer when the lease was up. I lost a smaller amount of money for the luxury of driving a high end luxury car.

Smart purchase: two year old car - upper end - and with low mileage.

I already see that Obama is helping the economy..

Gun sales are up 250%
they are completely sold out of AR's AK's and most all of the Mini's and semi's...

And asswipe is way up there in sales.. lots of it being used in DC as we speak...
No longer is gold and oil the market hedges against inflation...it's gun and wipes.

@#$wipes...gee, maybe we should purchase Pineslime.

If we continue to take partisan stances and refuse to understand that this is a WHOLE government problem, that the goal is to destroy the middle class, that the goal is the rich get richer, that the goal is to reduce the majority of the world, including the US to 3rd world status (and now you are seeing the results of years of hard work by the FRB to achieve their goals) then their is no hope.
EXACTLY!!!!

Last time I checked, We the People participate in the voting process in this country because we are supposed to elect people to office who will represent our needs and desires. I don't know about the rest of you, but the people in Washington haven't represented me or my needs in... maybe ever. I'd like to see a total recall of at least 85% of elected officials including representatives, congress people, and the like. And I can't say how effing irritated I am at presidential appointments. If Hillary gets Sec of State, I'm eating my voter registration card. And organizing a protest. I'm thinking of doing that, anyway, though. Get that recall underway...

While the politicians play house, the FRB has control. The economy is going to go the way the FRB wants it to go. We have no bailout - the bailout was suppose to be for us, to free up money to keep the world revolving - HUH! Right! It was a last minute ditch effort to steal a few more bucks under Bush's support and watch, IMO. I thought it then and I am even more convinced of it now. And the congress lapped at his heels. Yep, they all need to go.

I have been disappointed in every President elected since I was old enough to vote. Bush has taken the cake, though. He took it, he sliced it and like a greedy pig he ate it all, including the crumbs. And the cons sat there patting his back like the good little followers they are.

If we sit back and give Obama a pass - we are no better. Hopefully, all the people of the USA will keep watch - not just the dissenting side who didn't vote for him. I am hoping they will lay the BS aside, you know, like the lies and reports that he refuses to salute the flag, and get into the meat, the heart of the matter.... we need to watch and protest and speak out, take to the streets if necessary.... but, I am beginning to think it is too late.... I sincerely hope I am wrong.

I am very disappointed he is considering Hillary. I guess he didn't understand the primaries. The people already said they didn't want her.

Sorry if I am rambling, this is kinda early for me.... :gringa:
