Actually, TM you have a point there. My Dad always saluted but my Mom and myself put our hands over our hearts.

No salute required, just stand at attention.
Same goes for Taps.

No, it's not true tp. He did not refuse to salute the flag. He stood respectfully at attention during the Anthem. I sang the Anthem hundreds of times surrounded by military men and women and guess what they did during the Anthem? They stood respectfully at attention. Now if you dare to call all them unamerican then I say Fuck You.
Look at the picture, he's holding his johnson...

Attention (correct me if I'm wrong, SSB) means standing straight with arms down to your sides.

I would NEVER dis the military, like you have, and I'm very impressed that you know the National Anthem, or did you just hum along?

I'm assuming that the Anthem you’re speaking of is the United States National ANTHEM, since you never stated that...

Give it up, TPP. You are wrong, we are right and back to my point.... stop nit picking a bunch of stupid stuff that isn't even true and focus on the real issues.... like, let's get the hell out of Iraq (apparently, the forgotten war now that Americans are out of work), get some affordable health care for all Americans and stop the bailouts..... Those are just a few of the important issues.

I have finally came to a conclusion about all of this after doing some intensive research yesterday..... no matter what happens, bailout, no bailout, this is gonna be painful but here is what I think we should do.

We can not bail out the big 3 - let them file for Chapter 11, reorganization. This will bust the union, this will hurt those that are getting ready to retire. And maybe those that are retired - I am not sure how much is in the pension funds.... then rehire any worker who wants to come back, non-union and at pay comparable to other non-union car makers in the US... this will eliminate debt pressure and the outrageous union benefits. The Executives have to wave all bonus packages until the company is viable again. Or, they also have to leave.

Then give them the money already apporpriated for cleaner, more fuel efficient engines, for that purpose.

There will be a chain of events, no matter which way we turn it, but I think this will be the least painful in the long run.

I was listening to one of the talk radio shows a day or two ago and a guy called in that worked for GM and was a member of UAW. He said the new-hires to the union are not payed much, around $15/hour, and the benefits are almost non-existent.

BTW, TPP's Obama thing is true - just follow the link. There is ABC film footage of the event. Bill Richardson was looking at him and his face said "What the hell's wrong with you?"

let em fall on there ass... the American people need to get off their ass and demand their country back.. we have become lazy and complaicent. there is such a division between the people and Gov. that we are now heading for peonage. We let the gov. tell us how we are to live, we let them take away rights everyday,, and most of the people accept it and say well it will help..

TM, I was reading yesterday that the average employee at GM costs the company an astounding $78 a hour, due to the benefits. They are taking home, before taxes, about $28 a hour.

This must be what the guy was talking about.

Just hours after threatening to strike at one or more GM plants, the UAW and the General have agreed on two-tier wages for certain job types. The move to clarify which jobs were "non-core" at the national level came as local UAWs were threatening to strike because they felt GM was asking for too many lower-paid positions at their plants. The more regimented deal identifies 16,000 positions that will soon be paid $14 per hour, which will save GM up to a half-billion dollars per year. It will take years to fill all of those positions because GM has to entice existing workers to retire before they can be replaced.
