If I were pulled over, legitimately and asked for ID, than I would have no problem with it. IF I were walking down the street and an officer requested my id and wouldn't accept my driver's license and halled me off to jail until someone comes with mega loads of proof I was a US citizen, then yeah, I might have a problem with that.

As I remember, you don't look Mexican. The problem with the law is that it will encourage racial profiling, even though the letter of the law expressly prohibits it.

On the whole, people here in AZ don't expect things to be much different with this new law. Sure, if we had the money and the personnel it could become a problem, but we don't. the budgets here have been slashed, law enforcement is stretched to the limit, and the belt tightening continues as our unemployment numbers rise, our homes are forclosed on, and violence continues to rise. there just isn't the time and the money or the available cops to enforce this law. the legislature knows this, the people know this, most probably the illegals know this. For now, the law will remain a middle finger directed at the federal government, who knows, maybe that will do some good.

I think it'll give the opportunity for Arpaio and his ilk to make life a little more miserable for those who are darker complected. I don't think it'll solve any problems and will probably cost AZ a fortune in lawsuits. It's a stupid law passed only to count political coup.

A sheriff who enforces the law and punishes accordingly is ilk? Wow, that's a stretch.
