Why do Indians Protest Christopher Columbus day and not Cinco De Mayo?

In the west, Spainards and Mexicans killed more Indians before the "White Man of the East" settled in the terrorities? In fact, its documented as early as the 1500's that the Mexicans were raping and looting the natives and "taking" their lands.

I don't remember any of my teachers telling about the Tiguex War and how the Mexicans massacre indians near present day Albuquerque.

hey cool....a totally different outrage of the day from RT....this time it's about mexicans and their holidays. Ever so much better than the constant harping on homosexuals.

I think back then you would be talking about the "Spaniards" not the Mexicans. for one.

They were pretty bad to the Indians and got started way earlier than the east coast settlers. The problem with the Indians is they did not make good slaves. At one point though, to Spain's credit, slavery of Indians was outlawed. But there were lots of fighting and separation. There was an old record account of how a widow appealed to remarry but the church denied her because her husband was killed my Indians and his body never recovered as evidence of his death. One thing they did communicate well was the silver smiting.

But from the time of Columbus the east coast was raided and plundered with no one to survive. Entire populations were wiped out. People who escaped initial battles returned home years later to find only wind blowing.

That's one thing I like about the Korak Indians. Its like the push west reached as far as the Modocs and every lst one was killed to the last holdout at these caves... Then the Koraks and Yoraks i the mountains held out as times changed and they got a big reservation on the river and forest land.

First of all, it is Cinco de Mayo (not Mayor) which means 5th of May.

Second of all, there were no "Mexicans" until the Spaniards breed with the Indians creating a new "race" of people, ie modern day Mexicans which are a mix of Spaniard and indigenous Indian people.

It was the Spaniards that did all the murders, raping and pillaging. The Indians have no beef with the Mexcians who were victimised just as they were by the Spanards and are actually part of the same peoples.

Mexicans and Indians had been killing, capturing, and impoverishing one another for a decades before the US Government intervene....the tell tell was when Polk limited combat to northern Mexico terrority to go on and take over Mexico City during the US-Mexican War.

Isn't great to know that the American military complex won the US-Mexican War in mid to late 1800's. Too bad our Congress today has lost the war which great Americans fought and has allowed chaotic convergence on our borders.

I was thinking of Sotomayor and Mayo...you're correct.

You are incorrect to assert that their where no Mexicans until they breed with the Indians of Mexico. Yea right, the "indians of Mexico" didn't ever battle with the "indians of America." That's a stupid assertion. All they knew was a river separated them.

Spaniards killed. Mexican Natives killed. Europeans killed. So why do they blame all of the killing on Christopher Columbus and protest his national day of rememberance?

In fact, most of the deaths of Native Americas was from disease and not from the "white man" killing them.

There is killed and there is wiped out as in Nada, no one, nutin. Even in in death life has meaning, but in annihilation, there is only wind left. Only wind means life had not meaning.

The numbers of natives in the US are at the same levels as Pre-Columbus.

Bless your little heart.... the Spanish conquistadors were some of the most vicious and ruthless in modern day history.... that is why the protest. Not only to the US Indians but to all of North American Indians.

The imaginary border line you refer to (that little strip of water) was created long after the first time period you were talking about - you are switching all around here in a frenzy man, covering 1400 to almost 1900 AD, then some before and propably after. Geesh! settle down and let's talk one thing here.

The US Indians don't have a beef with the Mexicans, no matter HOW much you want it. I have explained it, you told me I am wrong, I don't care.

Carry on...... I bow out of this thread.
