America Samoa get hits with a major tsunami and where's President Obama? Isn't he concerned about Nancy's husband employees? People are dying and the President is on a First Class excusion to Europe. Oh yea, the President is on his way to bring home the Olympics. I wonder how much this cost American taxpayers as the raid on the Treasury continues. |

http://www.starbulletin.com/news/breaking/62977372.html Fema has already been dispatched. Relief is arriving to islands thousands of miles away faster than it did to N.O. Funny, huh? |

Yea, FEMA was sitting on their butts in Washington just watching football when Katrina hit. There were no resources deployed anywhere in the Southeast. No one was on alert. The governor of Louisianna accepted all the help they could get. The people of New Orleans died because of Bush...and he personally built the levees, and he personally smashed the levees, and he personally drove the storm into New Orleans. Get a grip...Obama should be flying to American Samoa before Denmark. |

He doesn't need to be there. He'd just distract from the rescue efforts. The reason Bush & FEMA came under such criticism was the ineptness of their response. But you know that. You're just seeking to excuse your beloved leader by criticizing Obama. It's a lame response. We can only hope that Obama will build up FEMA under his administration rather than ripping it down like Bush did. |

It's obvious you never have done any research about the governments (federal, state, and local) response or preparations of New Orleans. Why was only the people in New Orleans complaining when the hardest hit areas were in Mississippi? Why didn't the state elected Federal officials in the previous ten years to Katrina ever pork a levee project? Just two months earlier Landeau porked a multi-million dollar math software package for New Orleans. If the levees were such a concern, why didn't they pork some money? Why didn't the New Orleans Levee Commission (a state appointed commission) ever allocate funds to repair or reconstruct levees with their funds? Probably because they were more concern about their casino operation, two airports, and their large 1200 person police force to protect those assets than the levees. I researched the previous two years of the NOLC and found that they never had any discussions about levee maintenance UNLESS the federal government was present (i.e. the Corp of Engineers). The NOLC was taking money and funding non-levee control operations. If even if the Federal Government muffed up the response, we have invested almost TEN BILLION dollars in the reconstruction of another FRENCH boondoogle. Who the heck purchased a city under sea level by the French anyway? Wasn't it Jefferson who purchased New Orleans from Napoleon? Then again, I guess we had to take New Orleans to get the eastern divide of Colorado. Edited by Hello again, Oct 1 2009, 11:56 AM.
