WASHINGTON -- Former Cuban President Fidel Castro was "very engaging, very energetic," U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee, a California Democrat, said following a congressional delegation's meeting with the ailing revolutionary. The delegation that traveled to Cuba featured six members of the Congressional Black Caucus and Rep. Mike Honda, D-Calif., and they returned to Washington late Tuesday afternoon and urged the United States government to begin steps to alter its relationship with Cuba. "For the past 50 years, the United States has been swimming in the Caribbean Sea of delusion," said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., who described the United States as "the isolated nation" compared to European countries which have diplomatic ties with Havana. "This is the dawning of a new day," Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., declared. "Fifty years of foolishness is over. It's time for the children to sit in the corner and the adults to take over." Edited by Hello again, Apr 7 2009, 10:11 PM.

I've never heard of Rep Bobby Rush.....doubt after this we will hear much again. RT, ya gotta let the jerks have their day......what I do agree with is normalizing our relations with Cuba. I understand the reasons why the strict sanctions were put in place....i don't understand why they stay. We have had normal diplomatic relations and allowed americans to travel to Russia....once communist.....to China...still communist....what is the big deal about an island in the ocean that is communist that makes them worse than Russia and China. We really need to be consistant. I have several Cuban-American friends, some in very high places in this nation and in the business sphere...they would like the ability to see relatives and friends from their childhood....to visit their homeland. What are we so afraid of? |

Archer, I agree with you. I don't like the fact that these three reps are blaming us for the issues with Cuba - calling our national policies regarding Cuba foolish and delusional is moronic. |

you're just sayin? amusing. Since I have not particularly researched the subject (Cuban-American relations have not been big on my radar), they are the only source I have for input. So what was bigotted about what I posted? Usually when that type of phrase is used in a bigotted manner it is in the context of "I have several ________ (insert group here) friends, but I still think they are ______(insert denigrating statement here)". I didn't do that |
