The Guanella Pass Scenic Byway Road, extending 23.7 miles between Grant in Park County and Georgetown in Clear Creek County, is being reevaluated after failure of some Phase 1 construction after only a year. Total costs for revamping the road are estimated at $92 million |

At $ 92 million dollars, they would be better off giving each person who survives the journey at check for $ 100. 920,000 cars would need to pass though in the next several years just to break even. It's estimated that 180,000 individuals (not cars) visit Guanella Pass Scenic Byway each year. STUPID government crap! Edited by Hello again, Apr 3 2009, 03:50 PM.

No, CDOT wants another access to I-70. Go slap yourselves, your hysterical. BTW- a check for $100 wouldn't pay for the two broken axles I enjoyed after my last excursion over Guanella. Boreas is an easier drive. |

Ok, don't jump down my throat - but why is this such a problem? To make Guanella Pass more accessible would be a good thing for me. I love to go up there but don't any longer because the road is so bad. Is there ANYTHING that you are NOT against? |

Access to I-70 when? in summer? they got that now. In the winter? why? Who's going to climb that fricklin pass in the winter to just end up in the a blowing blizzard in Jefferson. What a slow simmering crock of crap DB! BTW, a check for $ 100 times X number of times after the repair...would have paid for the repairs. Next they will want to pay Boreas so they have another access to Breck. |

DaisyLover, don't you think $ 92 million for a mountain pass road, in light of our economic problems, is a luxury? I have NO problem with the road...it's the expense of the road when our country is upside down in financial blood. Edited by Hello again, Apr 7 2009, 12:14 PM.

How about a long-term look? Firstly it will bring a few jobs to the area and Secondly isn't it possible to bring tourists from town up to see the aspen leaves turning in the fall - among other reasons - and maybe spend some money to eat and buy gas from local merchants? I don't know RT - I'm just trying to see the good side of things. The long term result could be a very good thing for the local economy. Edited by DaisyLover, Apr 7 2009, 12:37 PM.
