Vampires:
The approach I have to vampires is a bit more realistic, and I’m relatively specific on how it is done. First off, they do have pale skin, but that is because their flesh is stronger and more durable than a human’s and, while it can burn, the fact that it is so much thicker balances out the sensitivities and allows them to tolerate the sun on their skin. This brings me to my next point: sunlight. Yes, they can go out during the day, but they are practically blind when they are in bright light, so typically they won’t without something to shade them. Again, this leads to another topic: abilities. Vampires have extremely heightened senses. They have remarkable hearing that allows them to hear a pin drop from a mile or so away, they could see for miles so long as there was nothing in their peripheral vision and they can see remarkable details from great distances. They can catch the scent of blood from ten plus miles away. They are also extremely strong and have the ability to move quicker that the human eye is able to see, and tend to be more prone tolerant of pain than humans (in other words, they aren’t nearly as fragile). Other than that, they appear human in every way. They do not have “Fangs”. Though their Canines are slightly longer than a humans, it goes unnoticed unless they know what to look for, and they do not use only them to puncture the flesh. Some may also have specific aspects of themselves heightened depending on their human selves, but many don’t. They do not age. Oh, and the whole garlic thing is nothing more than some stupid superstition.
The stake in the heart thing will work (well, duh) but it’s totally pointless because it would kill anyone given the right amount of pressure. They can die the same ways humans can. They are living, breathing creatures despite popular belief and they can die of starvation, blood loss, wounds to the heart or brain, or basically anything that damages vital organs. It just takes a far greater effort to do so. They are not impious and they will not die from holy water or burn from a cross. That’s dumb.
Another thing: they are deathly allergic to silver. Not in the aspect of “Shoot them with a silver bullet and they die” or something werewolf-related like that, but in that it reacts to their structure the way acid would ours. It eats away at the tissue slowly, and will continue to do so as long as they are within contact with it. Wounds sustained from silver will never fully heal, as it completely destroys the cells and virus until it cannot regenerate properly in that area.
Any other wound will heal completely given a significantly shorter amount of time than necessary for humans. Nearly all wounds will be fully healed in well under twenty-four hours.

Eating habits:
They drink blood; otherwise they wouldn’t be vampires (duh). This is, however, due to the face that their body no longer produces normal blood, and therefore is deprived of vital nutrients, hence their reliance on the substance. They can feed off one another, though most don’t because, while they are able to obtain the necessary supplements from others, because they aren’t getting it directly from the host body it is diluted and often much of it has already been absorbed by the time the they are able to feed.
Vampires are classified by their feeding habits, in which there are three: Killers, Cannibals, and Drainers. Killers are just that: murderers. They kill people mercilessly without regrets. Cannibals are those who feed on their own kind, whether they hkill them or not. They are hated by both humans and vampires. Drainers, the rarest of the three, have great self-control and are able to feed off of humans without killing them. There are only a few who fall into this classification, and the numbers are diminishing.

The Cycle of Rebirth:
Okay, so let me make this clear: My vampires are not actually reborn. However, I will define it as such because of how it actually happens. First of all, biting a human will not affect them alone, nor is it the only way to change them at all. In order to change them, the blood must be weak, or a greater amount of Vampire blood must enter the blood stream then there is of their own. In other words, Vampirism is a virus, and a relatively weak one until it actually starts attacking the body.
Now I’ll explain exactly why it is I will call it a rebirth. The virus does not actually kill a person, but their heart will stop for a few seconds (maybe ten), so the body can rebuild itself. This is not a permanent change In other words, the virus will attack and kill every cell in the body, and relatively quickly, replacing it instantly with its own replicas of that cell. Their personality will not change, and they will still be physically identical to their old self.

Hunters:
Hunters are an entirely different race from Vampires and humans. Though they are not in any way related to vampires, they tend to hold similar advantages. They are stronger and quicker than the average human, though these abilities don’t quite extent to the degree of a vampire’s. They may also hold some sort of special abilities, though these are typically more dominant and less natural than a vampire’s. Weak elemental skills, for example, are quite common. Many also have the power to heal, which varies greatly in their breed.
They age normally, and despite their abilities, they are just as easy to destroy as humans. In fact, genetically, they are almost identical to them. Which means that a Hunter could actually become a Vampire, assuming there is one brave enough to try changing them.

Humans:
Humans are humans. There really isn’t much to explain, considering we all know what they are. They don’t have any special abilities, and most are somewhat reliant on hunters, because they rarely have the strength or courage to stand up to them, though it is possible for a human to kill one.

Half Breeds
It is possible for Humans and vampires to crossbreed, though it is rare. The resulting child would relate more so to a hunter in strength and speed, but would be vampiric in that they would still feed on blood and would age slower than humans. They wouldn’t be immortal, but they’d age at a ratio of 1:10 to humans. They are despised by all three races, though they are usually taken in by vampires because of their feeding habits. Regardless, they are somewhat of social outcasts, their mixed blood making them perfect for the assault of all three.
