General Election Called Prime Minister Herbert Henry Asquith has called for a General Election to be held on the 15th January 1910. The election has been called following the rejection by the House of Lords of the proposed budget by Chancellor of the Exchequer, David Lloyd George. The Budget was accepted by the Commons however the House of Lords voted against the budget. Asquith, Balfour, Henderson and Redmond are all battling it out to be the Prime Minister of the Empire. Polls show Unionists are expected to get the majority of the vote. |
